Explanation of the hype/excitement with Allen ? Did his team get worse from last season ?

There is no hype for Allen anymore. He had a pretty solid year last season and had a terrific Hlinka this past summer. Those 2 combined made an early top 10 rated pick. He was rated as high as #5 coming into season.

Since then he's been pretty unspectacular. He hasn't shown much at either end and has shown a lack of pace. Most people thought Guelph would be a good team this year. Instead they've been one of the worst teams in OHL.

He's gone #5 to #39.

Sounds a lot like the Justin Barron situation.

I think the overreactions will calm down and when the dust settles, someone will take him in the 1st.

Im very down with Allen at 39 tbh. Thats value man.
His stock keeps dropping. He may be one of those kids who peaked too early. He's also not producing. I don't like his trajectory.

Barron could skate though.

Allen is fine, still have him top 20.

From near MVP at Hlinka to 2nd round, the weed is getting better I see.

Speaking of weed, you seem to like players who are not like weeds because they stop growing at 15. Savoie was the second coming of Howie Morenz to you last year.

Hope our WHL scout is good because that crop is insane. When you look at the OHL and then the QMJHL list. Really lacking upside out there.

Why would Benson be the one thats stapled in at 6 and not Heidt, Cristall, Leonard or even Reinbacher?

I love Benson, by the way. I think its actually Smith that hasnt separared himself from that group, but for discussion sakes.

I'm talking about the professional lists. Majority of organizations have a top 6 of Bedard, Fantilli, Carlsson, Michkov, Smith & Benson now.

Yager seems solidly in 7, no? Or are hot take lists pushing him down?

He seems to be settling in that 7-9 range. He had a really bad start to the season, so he was getting severely dropped in the pre-Christmas/WJC lists to the point of ranking late 1st.

I wouldn't say he's a consensus though. Dvorsky, Barlow, Moore & Sale are still challenging in that range.

I don't watch American college hockey. When I look at the USDP prospect stats, I notice that G Perrault is the youngest of the group (W Smith, R Leonard, O Moore) but he is the one producing the most points. G Perrault 36 games= 69 points! W Smith 33 games=62 points , R Leonard 31 games=49 points, O Moore 34 games=46 points I know the points don't say everything but he is ranked lower than the other 3 according to McKenzie. For those who have seen him play, what kind of player is he and what is his potential? thank you
