Morin will be gone by the end of the first round.

Stats wise for.a.defenseman...he is in the top 5 in...Canada...and he is 17.years old.
33 points last season at 16...

40 points so far this season in 35 games..

I don’t think he will be gone by then. He’s a 6’0 QMJHL offensive defenceman. They aren’t typically taken that high. There is still this belief that defenders from the Q don’t really know how to defend. As soon as you label one offensive, then the rhetoric becomes that they won’t be good enough for the NHL. Been like that for years now.

Agree on Kiviharju, I think he might drop. Small and not a great skater.

Well, when he was projected 2-3 years ago, I'm sure everyone expected him to grow. He's still pretty small, but he also has 18 months, which is a lot for a 16 year old kid. Gaining strength will help with his skating. He's really shifty though. He'll be at u18s again.

Will be interesting to see if Celebrini (Canada) & Eiserman (US) are at u18s. Both should be there. Bedard won't be even though he's still eligible.

But, yeah, don't think Kivi is presumptive #1.

Start of 2nd round..think really hard of Étienne Morin.

He keeps racking up the points. Played top pairing as a 16 year old, and seems to keep getting better which is exciting. Maybe he'll have a great 2nd half of the season and a solid playoff. He makes smart choice with the puck.

Maybe he sneaks into the 1st round, it would be great if he's there with our 2nd round pick. Feels like a hit/miss pick. It would be hard to pick him though if Hrabel is on the board, or a forward drops like Danielson, Moore, Stramel.

Just listened to the most recent athletic podcast where Pronman was speaking...he has always been a huge fan of Slaf but made an interesting comment. He alluded to the fact that he thinks Fantilli is a better prospect than Slaf at the draft (by virtue thinks that Bedard will go #1 then it's one of Carlsson or Fantilli).

Take that for what you will, but found it interesting. Fantilli's skating is absolutely amazing

Weve veen saying Slaf would go 5th in 2023 for months.

I think that’s a fact that’s universally accepted by everyone. If Slaf was in this draft, the conversation for him would start at 4.

There's something missing in Dvorsky's game.. I liked him coming in to this year and he's got good tools with his frame but there's a lot of Shane Wright in his game. I don't feel like he wants to challenge anyone.
We’re not the Slovak national team. Let’s diversify like the stock portfolio I wish I had

Mine is similar - I just have a feeling that one team is going to fall in love with either Dragicevic or Reinbacher (the 12 string version :D) or Gulyayev and select a defenseman @10 or shortly after.

No doubt in my mind that there will be at least one defenseman drafted in the top 10.

What's your thought process in having Sale ahead of Dvorsky?

I would think about it but there a chance you could get him in the late 2nd early 3rd.
If Luneau goes early 2nd round....I know, there's a size difference. But still...

Fantilli ahead of Slaf. No question for me.

Sale just shows more game breaking skill to me. He's a better skater, his hands are better, he's more willing to put defenders in distress.. and he has easy skill when it comes to playmaking and shooting. Very effortless in all aspects.

Dvorsky the shine comes off more every time I watch him. Good inside game, good size, great shot.. but hands? Not really.. playmaking? not really? zone exits and entries? not really.

1st guy to go in my ND liste...Charlie Stramel. 'Cause I will always choose somebody else in the 1st round even if we get 5 picks...and will have somebody else to choose early 2nd round too. Of course I'd take him if he's there in the 3rd but will not fall that much.

I'm just not a fan. From his skating, to his IQ, to his non-existant hands.....McCarron in his draft year looked better.

Watched some videos of a few guys in the 5-10 range.

My favorites are Yager and Cristall.

Cristall moves like Patrick Kane. Yager has great decision making, looks like a pro already.

Benson, lots of flash but tended to blow a lot of plays. Might be a bad sample of vids.

Dvorsky, has a great shot but nothing else stood out.

Will Smith kind of hard to judge. Unclear how much will be left once the pro game acid test bites into his game.

Even if we miss on Bedard, I would be very happy drafting a combo like Yager/Cristall. Would be huge.
