J. Fresh's bottom 5 in his projected standings for 2022-2023:

1. Arizona
2. Chicago
3. Montreal
3. Philadelphia
5. Anaheim

Montreal and Philadelphia are tied at 71 pts. That would actually be a 16 pt improvement for Montreal, as they only finished with 55 pts last season.

No need to play the season, we'll take this final ranking thank you very much

Honestly, the way the East bolstered their rosters this season, we can realistically enjoy watching this team put out a good effort game in game out, watch our young players flourish, and still lose enough games to end up in the bottom 5.

Even if our players perform at their best we are still one of, if not the worst team in the East.

Would be the dream.

and the hope is that the bad teams in the West, playing each-other so often, will artificially inflate the point totals of some of those teams.

I know you all want a center but give me Michkov please. That guy would be the most fun to watch as a Hab.

Michkov is super risky.. he's signed in the KHL for like 5 more years.
No guts no glory.... We can keep on accumulating more talent and drafting high and by the time he comes over the deadwood will be mostly all gone... Even Gallagher would only have 1-2 years left assuming he stays until then.

Then we have Caufield Michkov as our 1st 2 RW, thats money...... Lack of talent and goalscoring will no longer be an issue.

Now I'm not in charge of the Habs and you might be right....but I've watched the WJuniors and I was thoroughly impressed, I do believe he is generational and a highlight reel factory in the making.

Yeah he's obviously the 2nd best prospect in the draft, but he could drop due to that uncertainty especially with Ukraine. I'd certainly not fault Hughes at all if they passed to take the surer thing in Fantilli, for example.

I don’t think people realize that having St-Louis as a coach since the start of the year , 20-30 games from Price and 40-50 from Allen , caufield producing as a 35-40 goals scorers , Guhle-Harris eating big minutes , slaf producing 60 points , Suzuki improving , veterans like Dvo-Andy- Drouin over producing could actually end our chances of finishing bottom 5.

Let’s say the team have lot of chemistry and is well coached I think we will not finish top bottom 5 sorry to say that but it’s the truth our kids will improve this year and everyone will be better we just need 2 nhl caliber goalies.

To finish bottom 5 it means our rookies will suck and I don’t want that.

I would be surprised if Price played 20 games from the way he sounded at the end of the season but I think he even will struggle with this blueline unless he's 100% healthy then maybe he will be good.

I would be a bit surprised if Caufield hit 40. I said when he was struggling with 1 goal that I believed he would hit 40 some day, just not sure it's by next season.

I hope Guhle is in the AHL.

I would be surprised if Slaf put up 40 pts, but I hope he's in the OHL.

I think they are a lock for bottom 5 but we'll see how the roster looks as i thought for sure Petry would be gone by now and that Price wouldn't play a game and one of Anderson/Dvoark would be gone as well at the draft. If none of those things happen then that clearly changes things.

I just spent an hour watching videos of Bedard and Michkov, and Michkov is one of the smartest players I have ever seen.

Holy shit that guy is good.

Preliminary thought, if you ignore the Russian factor, I'm taking him 1st overall over Bedard.

I think that looks pretty realistic. My random bottom 10 guess:

1. Arizona 54 points
2. Chicago 59 points
3. Philadelphia 66 points
4. Montreal 69 points
5. Anaheim 70 points
6. Seattle 70 points
7. Detroit 71 points - I think they still suck and got more points than they deserved last year
8. San Jose 72 points
9. Buffalo 76 points
10. New Jersey 78 points

No way I'd take anyone but Bedard over Michkov. I don't care to wait 5 years. You wait for the man.

As for the risk he'll never come, you take that risk for him.

He has a Gretzky-like IQ.

He's gonna score 100 pts in his first NHL season and then for several seasons after that.

Michkov coming in on a entry level deal on our squad in three - four years may actually be exactly what we need to win the cup.

At minimum, I'd expect a Panarin level impact on the Hawks when he came over. Given where the rest of our talent might be by then I'm actually thinking cap wise this might work best.

A lack of top offensive minded Dman and a legitimate goalie would make it hard to achieve it. We'd simply be the new Oilers.

If Price comes back healthy and Petry plays next year like he did under MSL team is solid. But two big ifs

Michkov is an extremely talented player and no one will argue that. You just have to take into consideration that he may never end up coming to the NHL. Not sure I’d be willing to take that risk with a high pick.

An once-in-50-years chance to get a transcendental player, you take it, even if it means losing a Dvorsky. Who cares?

Michkov is on a trajectory that gives him a chance to become the next BIG TIME player. Not talking star, talking Top 5 all-time.

He has that mysterious style of play, that kind of unfathomable intelligence that you can't measure the depths of him and how great he can become.

I know what Michkov is projected to become, that is not the debate. Unless you have guarantees that he’s coming into the NHL, I wouldn’t risk it.

There’s plenty of talent coming up in next year’s draft in the top 10, not just Dvorsky.
