Hawks went off the board like 5 times this draft.
This is every team's board after the 2nd round:

What is it with the Kraken and not picking D men, they've had tons of picks and barely any D men, the D pipeline ain't good for them.

Those are unproven players in the NHL, just like Kasper. My point is it’s difficult to build a franchise without a star center and those typically get drafted with the first handful of picks.
Sure. But I'm still firm in believing in Savoie and Lambert's upside being higher. I do think Kasper will be a pretty good player. But not a star.

And as you said those are unproven, but so are Bedard, Fantilli, Carlsson, Smith as well.

They took 3(Drago,Price and Hammell) on day 2 so the D-man spot is getting built up
They had 4 picks in the top 60 and only took 1, they had 10 picks in total and only took 3, I'm also talking about their whole draft history, last year they had 11 picks and only took 2, the highest was #68, they had 6 picks in the top 70.

They've only taken 2 Dmen in R2, the highest they've picked them, so no, they are not exactly primed for guys coming into the NHL, maybe only 1D that they've drafted will make it.

It's ok to go "off the board" after you make the 1st pick, you have to make and nail a good 1st pick, going off the board really only matters in R1 maybe some of R2, after that it's all off the board really.

The Wild went off the board with their R1 pick, which they do at least sometimes and it doesn''t work out for them, Filip Johansson says hello.

Kevin Korchisnki, Nolan Allan, Sam Rinzel, Ethan Del Mastro, Alex Vlasic, Wyatt Kaiser all in the system right now. Fairly crowded on the blue line. It was the overwhelming strength of the Hawks prospect pool coming into the draft.
Fair enough but the only ones I’ve seen play are korchinski and Kaiser. Are any of these guys going to be on the hawks roster this year?

The Strength of the 2023 draft was Offense with 24 Forwards taken and 8 D-men taken in the first round and 19 Forwards taken in the Second round with 4 goaltenders and 9 D-men! Seattle chose who they thought was the BPA and 6 times out of 10 it was Forwards in 2023. I thought the Kraken got good some really value and potentially some Star Power! Sale is going to be a scorer,Fisker-Molgaard could really surprise while RehKopf could be that 2nd line Winger that is tough and can score goals. I expect young Rehkopf to score 45-50 next year in Kitchener after tallying 30 as a 17-18 year old!Absolutely loved the RD-man Dragicevic(Drago) selection who possesses Offense in spades and will in time round out his overall Defensive game. Bet GMFrancis loved that he was there...LD-man Caden Price was rated higher but for some reason fell. He's 4-5 years from Seattle! Andrei Loshko is a year away from Coachella and could surprise...has great speed and may be better suited to the Wing. Zeb Forsfjall is small(5-9) but fast could in 4 years time after gaining big minutes in Sweden be looking for NHL duty. Kaden Hammell was the centre piece going back to Everett when Olen Zellweger headed to Kamloops for Memorial Cup service! Vedenpaa could be another Finnish goaltender the Kraken develop and Wisdom is a shot but needs to play and train for 4 years in College to give himself a chance of making the AHL-NHL! So that's 2 LWingers chosen,3 Centre, a RWInger,2 RDmen,a LD-man and a goaltender...Pretty balanced to me and hit every position

D-men take longer than Forwards to make it to the "Show"!Time to get Stronger,Smarter! Time to simplify their games and time to develop as much as they need

This isn't about how long a player takes to make it, we all know that Dmen take longer generally, I'm not talking how long it will take, I'm talking about guys who will make it, it's about how many D they've drafted and where they've drafted them, if you are drafting players outside the 1st 2 and 3 rounds in deeper drafts, then they are less likely to make the NHL.

After the 1st 2 or 3 rounds BPA doesn't really apply anymore, you start drafting for need then, and Seattle need more D since they are a new NHL team, I know they like their current blueline which is probably why they don't draft D much, but they are going to lose Soucy as a FA now and they don't have much to replace him within their system, they also have to sign Borgen and Dunn, if their plan is to imrove their D via trade or in free agency then fine, but it doesn't always work out that way.

The Draft animal is a different story you're drafting for 4-5 years down the road unless you get a Stud in the First round. So they might as well call the NHL draft the Futures draft...before 1979 the NHL only drafted 20 year olds except for 1974 of course. Players are ready more or less not like today which applies to vast majority of them

What does that have to do with what I posted.
