NHL will never overtake the NFL draft, but at least the NFL makes it entertaining while NHL is still stuck in the 1890s math class using an abacus.
This particular draft class was amazing and it was let down by ESPN, I have never seen anything as bad these last two drafts by them compared to what NBC did. NBC was smart enough to have Bob McKenzie and Craig Button on there that actually know what the f*** they are talking about. Effin' Boucher was having a hard-on for every single USNTDP player that was still available and Weekes was a complete tool. Meghan or whoever she is, isn't truly bad, but when she's the best that the team has to offer, it shows how low of a standard the product is. I really liked Kaplan, but more exposure is really showing her as a Neanderthal which should be offensive to the ex-Neanderthal race.
The NHL DESPERATELY needs to hire an individual to announce these picks in a consistent way. Enough of these Owners and Price moments that are just full cringe by forgetting names or pronouncing them terribly. Find a better interviewer because Emily just doesn't cut it, but it won't change because she's a woman and that means "diversity!" Hire Craig Button for this one-day event to actually and properly tell what a team is getting in a player to an audience that probably has never watched these lads play. Find and make better highlight packages that show the strength of the player, having to see Brady Cleveland (physical shutdown defender) was drafted with zero goals on the season and every effin' highlight for him is in the offensive zone. This shows how hilariously bad these highlights are, but that is a fault of the NHL network and not necessarily with ESPN (though their package was also bad). This isn't rocket science about how to make an acceptable show.
