I disagree. 8th is pretty high. I would've taken Savoie or Lambert last year. And then Benson at 9th this year. They have high potential. Obviously not Bedard level, but 1st line/top 6 upside.
Those are unproven players in the NHL, just like Kasper. My point is it’s difficult to build a franchise without a star center and those typically get drafted with the first handful of picks.

Ah...........shit happens.

Passing on Michkov is the far bigger story of the day for me.

He was right there all for the taking.

To be serious, I would have loved to add Michkov's offense (maybe Bure potential) but the D for the Habs is shaping up well. Smaller types in Hutson and Harris are mix in well with big, mobile, physical guys who can all skate and chip in on offense. Engstrom and Hutson are wild cards.

All of these guys are age 18-22 range. Going to take 3-5 years to see the true potential.

Guhle / Mailloux
Hutson / Reinbacher
Xhekaj / Barron
Engstrom / Harris

I agree there, our defense could very well be our strength in a few years and as the old cliche goes defense wins championships.

This draft was disapointing. TV coverage was A$$, especially if you don't live/reside in US/Can. There were NO trades...no moving up and down...

If Price was the benchmark for "excitement"....Bettman screwed this one up majorly.

No trades is Bettman's fault? lol

Not sure I like Analytics much...Players have to pass the eye test and have character...and sometimes you have to go with the artist who may be a bit of a flake but with the right Leadership group can rein him in a bit

Hockey analytics has a long way to go imo. The fact that a pure snake oil salesman like John Chayka was an nhl general manager like two years ago tells you all you need to know there. I take any “all in one” graphic about a player with a huge grain of salt. Obviously I love data on 5 man units but that’s tough to isolate for individual players.

What do they get like 30 seconds for rounds 2-7? They don’t mess around.
