2015: Crouse, Gurianov, Zboril, Debrusk, Senyshyn
2016: Brown, McLeod, Bean, McAvoy, Kunin
2017: Vilardi, Necas, Suzuki, Foote, Brannstrom
2018: Wahlstrom, Dobson, Dellandrea, Farabee, Denisenko
2019: Soderstrom, Boldy, Knight, York, Caufield
2020: Askarov, Lundell, Jarvis, Holloway, Amirov
2021: Sillinger, Coronato, Rose, Cossa, Othmann

Not one franchise played picked in our range.. A handful of good players, the best being McAvoy and Necas so far. So out of 35 players, maybe 10 that can be solid with potential to be an allstar some day. Is this draft pick - if he succeeds - going to change the fortune of the Canucks? Nope.
With 11th, 12th pick you don't pick franchise player, you pick top9 forward or 2nd line D.
Crouse, Debrusk, McAvoy, Kunin, Vilardi, Necas, Suzuki, Wahlstrom, Dobson, Dellandrea, Boldy, Caufield, Lundell, Jarvis, Sillinger are those guys...

Thinking it matters whether you draft 8th or 11th has been shown over and over again to be meaningless. Just have to hope the board shakes out in our favour and Allvin calls (and develops) the right name. And this won't be know for years.
This is the key point. If Pettersson and Hughes are about to force the team to move them because they're not contending, there's no point in keeping the pick. By the time the pick is ready to contribute, it'll be too late.

Checking the draft rankings on Sportsnet and TSN, Sam Consentino on Sportsnet has David Reinbacher, Dibor Dvorsky and Nate Danielson in the 10-12 draft slot.

Meantime over at TSN, Bob McKenzie, has Ryan Leonard; Oliver Moore and Eduard Sale in the 10-12 slot. While Craig Button goes semi-off the board as usual with Axel Sandin-Pellikka; Gabe Perreault; and Brayden Yager.

Admittedly I know next to nothing about these guys. But I suspect if the Canucks are drafting 10-11th overall, and Reinbacher is still on the board, then they're sprinting to the podium.

McAvoy, Necas, Suzuki, Dobson, Boldy, Caulfield are absolutely top line/pairing guys.

We havent drafted anyone who has exceeded expectations since Hughes in 18. We have had a dry spell and it reflects in our prospect pool. They need to hit on this pick.

No disrespect intended.. but compiling this list after what you said means you literally watch no other team or your evaluation is to the moon

Brayden Yager starting to heat up and play some of his best hockey in the playoffs. 10 points in 6 playoffs games and 17 points in his last 10 games overall. Has been very inconsistent this year but would not be surprised if he breaks out next year. His game Saturday against the Winnipeg Ice he looked like the best player on the ice. His decision making with and without the puck at times will drive you mad but after the top 5 you would be hard pressed to find a player with a better skill set and complete game.

The point is, there's only about a 30% chance of getting a guy like the players listed. 70% chance we'll get a bust. We're better off trading the pick for a player who is proven.

Huge fan of this prospect. As i said before he raises his game against the best teams and the best players.

Been...something...watching Munchkin go from MS' #1 tire pumper to whatever this is.

I'm as shocked as you are.

Watching MS go from someone who only speaks what he believes to be true to the leader of the Rutherford Bro's and the biggest spin artist here with his catch phrase based posting, has been quite something.

As for the rest of your post, if you go by the draft pick value charts, the drop off from 8th to 11th is about as big as 5th to 8th. Obviously there is a growing group of people on these forums who are very averse to the specific kind of uncertainty of draft picks. Maybe you are part of that contention?

What a nightmare scenario if this happens. A team we just past wins the lottery
To me it doesn't matter really.

Just the fact that they chose to not prioritize draft position and lottery odds is the thing that pisses me off.

Intrinsic value vs hindsight basically.

Benson went #9 to Detroit in the mock. Yea dropping a few spots for totally meaningless garbage time wins doesn't matter, or so I was told.

Don’t play the lottery, never win.

Thing is, in the NHL, being anything but the best is worthless, so you more or less need to play the lottery.

There aren’t any teams who win the Cup without hitting it big in the draft.
