GDT: 2023 NHL Entry Draft Day 2 Rounds 2-7 - 11AM ET, ESPN, ESPN+

The Pitt rumors were a little out of left field. Are they looking for players for the now to stay in the game?
Have to imagine that's the case. They're trying to squeeze as much juice out of Crosby, Malkin, amd Letang before they retire.

Agree to keep it simple.

Trading up to 14 from 23, there needs to be a significant player there thats dropping. Like Moore. Dont make the trade, spending assets and then reach up for Ritchie or someone who might be there at 23 anyway.

Seriously moving from 23 to 14 is definitely not worth it. It would cost a lot, especially since we don't even have a 2nd to throw in.

Yeah, I think the idea is if we trade something significant like Tro or Schneider it won't include 23.

I'm like 99% sure that this is the case.

Ol Glen does Iike to make his splashes though...
Glen likes to make splashes for players that are vets over 30 and close to retirement. When has he done this for a future top quality prospect??

So what's happening here ? Most guys hoping we pick a top 10-15 prospect at 23 and then what.......complain that mangement screwed up when they draft a player projected around 23 or is it fodder to say 4 years down the road I told you all we should have picked Moore etc.

Musty @ 23. If not, then:

Nick Lardis - great skater, great shot, great athlete, will be a scorer in the NHL. RW.

Gracyn Sawchyn - very good playmaking skills. Very smart. Good skater. I think he will explode next season with more ice time. Needs to bulk up. C.

Edward Sale- Compete level? No defense. Does not play in the paint. Great skater, good shot ,very good skill when he has the puck. Scoring not proven. A bit shy about this. Could be the steal of the draft or boom or bust.

Charlie Stramel - I've said my piece before. Big, physical, hits everything, good skater, Scoring in question, so far. We will see next year. C/RW. NYR don't have a player like this. Would be an ideal playoff player. Every Rangers fan favorite pick.

Andrew Cristall - Phenomenal hands, shot and playmaking skills. Has to work on his skating, which he is already. If he can better his skating, he will be a steal. Size?

Cal Ritchie - safe pick. C.

Any other player the Rangers select, I will support.

Good luck to NYR!

Watching Sale I keep thinking how good Chytil would look on the wing. I think these two are very similar players.
That would be stupid, he is finally getting it on center. And Chytil can only dream of playmaking and passing skills Sale has, there is no comparison.

Of guys I think there's a realistic chance at being available at 23:

Simashev: looking less & less likely by the day though :(
But
Honzek/Musty
Ritchie/Sale
