I fully expect our draft pick to go down and fall out of the top 10. Summer was hype and the powerplay at times has been ridiculous. 5v5 should be a lot better than its been.

I was mostly joking, however I think he will safely go in the first round, and after pick 15 I wouldn’t be surprised if the Sens targeted him.

I would personally target the 3 D you mentioned ahead of him, but with him being Ottawa born and bred, and the Son of a Legacy player, I think the team will be very tempted to take him even a little bit early.

In recent years the scouting staff has really focused on skating ability, particularly with defensemen.

I don't think Bonk will be someone we'd be interested in enough to take with our 1st. Maybe our 2nd.

Looking like we will bag a top 10 pick. Disappointing season to say the least.

Gotta hit this pick out of the park to make up for it in a deep draft and since we butchered 2021 draft.

This thread should be picking up traction soon.
Do we have the same scouting staff and GM at the helm as we had in 2021?

At the end there was 100% a tank. Its the reason they started the draft lotto in 95.

That situation also led to McGregor getting blacklisted and Sens fans losing world class media content. Imagine how many Garrioch typos could have been avoided?

I think it will remain in the top 10 picks. Right now we are at #8.

As Playoffs are now virtually not likely to happen, I hope we try our younger prospects instead of the AHL players and retirement projects on the roster. Let's see if JBD, Thomson, Green and Sokolov have what it takes and are developing into NHL players. Move out Holden, Zaitsev, Brannstrom, Motte, Watson, Brassard.

Amateur hour in Senators senior management.

After 46 games, the Senators are in 25th place in the standings and 8th place in the draft.

GF is 133 (2.89/G) and GA is 152 (3.30/G).

This compares to 2021-22 season results after 82 games played:

GF was 227 (2.77/G) and GA was 266 (3.24/G).

Goal scoring is slightly better and goals against are slightly worse.

Will Smith definitely my favorite prospect outside the top-4 guys

Just due to Russian factor?

We probably end up picking in the back half of the top 10 so if he's there it would be insane to pass.
Only real reason he wouldnt go number 2. Ive seen people project him to fall out of the top 4 which I think is insane. Others say out of the top 10 which is ridiculous. Yeah he wont be here for 3 years but unless you are Mcdavid, Matthews, Bedard etc most players dont really start to contribute until then.

He slips out of the top 4 id give up something really important with the 8th pick to move up.

Michkov is easily the player with the 2nd most upside in this draft, but he'll definitely be a faller and is pretty much the antithesis of what the Sens scouting staff looks for in players. Can't see us being the team to draft him, especially since it would likely require moving up to get him.

5'10, Russian, has an extended contract, plays a one-dimensional game, is a winger, and supposedly has some attitude issues.

Sounds crazy but it wouldn't shock me if he fell out of the top 5 if teams picking 4th and 5th are desperate for a center and believe that Smith, Yager or Dvorsky are potential top line pivots.

Trent’s Kid, large RD Dman - perfect t for Ottawa

Lol

That’s exactly what we do every year. Get hot in the last 20 games and drop in the draft order. Book it, it’s happening.
Look at the teams schedule to finish. Dont think its happening this year.

Big Ben Roger energy and stat lines here, so yes he will be a sens pick.
He skates better than Roger. But I dont think there is any chance they are picking Trent Manns son that would be such a bad idea for the obvious reasons.

I can’t see how he drops past 4.
Agreed, was a big if.

Would not be surprised whatsoever to see Mann picked in the ~4th+. Mann is probably the 1 guy in the org they will keep.

Donovan was ranked 81st in NA last year and we took him with 136th in the 5th. Mann is currently 52nd NA.

Have you seen him play much this year? I know he was hurt to start the season.
