David Reinbacher.

He is the best defender in the draft in my opinion and the one closest to making an impact.

He is a 6’2’ late 2004 born Austrian that isn’t afraid of being physical. He has been playing against men since the age of 16 in Switzerland.
This year he is playing in Switzerland’s highest mens leage the NL where he is producing at just under .5PPG against men. For comparisons sake, Roman Josi had 8 points in the NL in his draft season; Reinbacher has 15 so far.

The thing with Reinbacher is offence isn’t the best part of his game - that I would say is his physicality and how well he defends against the rush. He is not afraid at all to lay the body - he will get this twinkle in his eye and zero in on someone and just lay them out. Reminds me of a young Kronwall in this regard of his game. He has a very good stick in the defensive zone and maintains his gaps real well. He is a very stout player in the defensive end.

A few things that he will need to work on is how he moves laterally - he is a great skater, but only really North-South. I don’t find he uses his edges often to cut into the middle of the ice, he more just attacks it if he does - and he doesn’t have that flawless, effortless stride when walking the blue line, he more just shimmy’s around if that makes sense. He also needs to work on his puck skills - he bobbles the puck on a regular basis and doesn’t always recieve passes very crisp. both these things are things he could work on going forward.

I compare him to Moritz Seider as a draft eligible player - raw player with a interesting profile and skillset with a good deal of room for improvement. I believe he will be in the NHL in 1-2 years.

I have been a big fan of Reinbachers game for months now and have been calling for him to be ranked higher on most public lists. It seems, though that he is starting to pick up steam in the scouting space as of late. Last monh, Elite prospects didn’t even have him ranked in their top-32 but this month he is at #15.

These are just my thoughts on this player though.

sounds like Hampus Lindholm clone, and he’s a Right Shot. Would be the perfect partner for #85

We aint making playoffs. Let's just get a top 10 pick in a deep ass draft and call it a season.

Keep DJ, our holy tank general. Don't trade for a D.
We can still make the playoffs. Norris and Joseph are back. Too soon to hang it up.

And if we get a D like we are rumored to be, it'll be close. But DJ will need to leave if we really, really wanna make a push (intrinsic motivation from new coach).

Still, feels we are too far now. We will need to string a 7-8 game winning streak now.

Be sellers at the TDL. Bring up some AHL players to have a good look and see if they can cut it. Get the best pick you can.
Thats a lot of teams to leap frog into a spot .

Dear hockey Jesus.

Please give us Bedard. We are sorry for tanking for Daigle. We are sorry for letting Yashin be the catalyst for ELC's.
We have learned our lesson.

Please let us ROFLstomp Leafs fans for the next 10-15 years.

Your friend,
Qward

P.S. I promise to stop yelling "Ref you suck!" Unless you want me to, then I can do it more.

How bad was the tank for Daigle? I was born in 93 and don't remember anything lol

It was their first seaosn in the league, they had one of the worst rosters in NHL history, there was no tank
At the end there was 100% a tank. Its the reason they started the draft lotto in 95.

There are some pretty surreal quotes from Firestone floating around out there from the end of that season about a potential tank. I'm not sure anyone will ever know the severity of what actually happened, but BF talked about guaranteeing 4/5 guys on the team roster spots the next season if they lost the last game of the year to the Bruins (which they did). I believe there was also talks of pulling the goalie if they were up or tied, but I don't believe that part actually came to fruition.

Not saying it’s going to happen, but if Sens went on a 4 game winning streak and got some help, things would be mighty interesting.

That being said, with the 14th Overall pick in the 2023 NHL draft, the Ottawa Senators are proud to select from the London Knights, Oliver Bonk.

Interesting read. Makes me think of the various solutions teams try to come up with to prevent tanking and the one that always comes to mind is to have the 1st overall pick to go to the 2nd or 3rd last team. Guarantee the last place team 3rd overall at best

Sens went into December out by 9 points. They proceeded to go 6-2, picking up 12/16 points. That run they put up pushed them from 9 points out to 8 points out by the time they picked up their 6th win.

Not only do the Sens need to go on some very long win streaks, they need 4/5 other teams to simultaneously shit the bed, like the Rangers and Penguins did on 2014-15

2014-15 had the Bruins go on a 6 game loss streak and lose 9/12 to close the year, and Pittsburgh go on a 5 game loss streak and lose 7/10 of their final games.

Is Bonk really rising that much? or are you projecting based on Boucher (fair)

I feel there are like... 3 RHD projected to go around where we should be picking this year that would be better fits than Oliver Bonk, would absolutely LOVE to pick him up in R2 though!

Axel Sandin-Pelikka
David Reinbacher
Lukas Dragicevic

heck even Cam Allen is ranked similarly to Bonk.

I want Bonk, but I REALLY don't think 14th+ is the right spot for him.

Bonk is a pretty safe player.

I’d say quite confidently he’ll go in the range of 15-45.

Nothing really stands out about his game, not flashy just does his job, guy has great IQ at both ends of the ice, Very good stick defending, postitions himself well and can be physical. He is starting to be more effective in transition, and has been learning to use his shot as a weapon more but his offensive game is still a work in progress.

He doesn’t really have any “standout qualities“ that could make him a top-3 defender in the NHL, but he seems like a pretty safe bet to play in the NHL to some degree.

Looking like we will bag a top 10 pick. Disappointing season to say the least.

Gotta hit this pick out of the park to make up for it in a deep draft and since we butchered 2021 draft.

This thread should be picking up traction soon.

I was mostly joking, however I think he will safely go in the first round, and after pick 15 I wouldn’t be surprised if the Sens targeted him.

I would personally target the 3 D you mentioned ahead of him, but with him being Ottawa born and bred, and the Son of a Legacy player, I think the team will be very tempted to take him even a little bit early.

Most responsible thing this org can do now is assess their depth within the org and prioritize this draft.

Feel pretty confident Barlow is our pick if he's still available.

6'1, 187lbs, power winger, captain of his team at 17, good defensively, kills penalties, big shot, not as much puck skill as other guys.

Think he'll end up going higher than he's ranked right now though. Landeskog went 2nd for a lot of similar reasons and Barlow's production blows his out of the water at the same age.

We'd be picking 8th overall if the draft happened today. Rising 6 seeds the standings to get to the 14th overall pick would be an accomplishment, albeit an unlikely one.
