Oh and I would like to point out Fantilli is proving me 100% wrong. I know @Kevin Musto and I had that conversation about Fantilli and I argued hes only been beating up on the bad college teams and has been a ghost against the great big 10 teams. Well...

5-8-13 in 6 games since returning from the WJC, all against Top 10 teams. Still don't like the hockey sense (I've seen more and more comparisons to Taylor Hall which seems about right to me) but he's definitely shut me up about him in that regard.

I don't know how you can argue against the hockey sense of a player that has been an elite producer the past 2 years. He very clearly has a high-end understanding of the game, which has allowed him to produce the way he has. He's certainly more of a classic power forward than a playmaker but I don't think that should count as a slight on his hockey sense. He's a physically toolsy player and he uses his tools to his advantage. In the NHL, he's going to have an adjustment to the size/speed/strength equaling out but he'll adapt IMO.

Because of how I've watched him play since he was in the USHL. He does alot of dumb shit on the ice that guys who think the game at a high level do not do. Sure he's putting up the points in college, but that's namely because of his elite tools. I hate to give the old guy/school classic line, but I suggest you watch him play instead of reading the box score. Some things separate he and Bedard for example but Bedard definitely thinks the game at a much higher level than Fantilli.

To be fair, Bedard thinks the game at a much higher level than any other draft eligible player.

2004 draft the Hawk were that 2nd worst team but fell to #3 overall as Washington leapfrogged the Hawks and the Penguins(worst) to #1...
1. Alexander Ovechkin
2.Evgeni Malkin
3.CAM BARKER
4.Andrew Ladd
5.Blake Wheeler
Ovi we all know about, took a year before he came over to NHL(lockout)
Mallon took two years, Wheeler took four

2005 draft was the Crosby Lottery and it was exciting to a point! The Hawks ended up picking #7 and selected Jack Skille...four picks later LA selected Anze Kopitar, he took a year to come over

2006 the Hawks draft #3 and take Jonathan Toews

2007 the Hawks win the draft lottery and for the first time in their history they pick #1 overall...Patrick Kane! Over avan Reimsdyk and Turris, wheh!

So what’s my point? It takes time guys, it takes time...

I he Hawks won three Cups in six years, five final four finishes in seven years...but I. All reality they could have had a lineup of
Evgeni Malkin, Anze Kopitar, Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane...wow!

Wheeler posting his minor league system rankings and he is down to 6 and not hit the Hawks yet. So top 5 system according to his ranking.
Hard to believe but we ended up number 5. Were 25 last year

Allan and Regula missed his top 15. Last two cuts. Said we have a lot of depth and both could be NHL D. Has Rinzel five and has the drop off at 3. Korch, Reichel and Nazar top 3.

Also said if Nazar wasn’t hurt could’ve easily had him at one. Seems to think Reichel will be a top line winger and Korchinski could be a number 2 D and PP QB. Projects Nazar as a top six play maker.

Very encouraging with all the picks already owned the next two drafts and the quality of player we will get with our first this year, along with next year.

6 picks in the first 3 rounds right now and I see 9-10 by the end of the deadline. Scouts should be salivating considering how strong this draft is supposed to be.

Lol he’s still not a fan of Korchinski.

Im honestly not shocked at all. There’s two things he absolutely despises in prospects. Guys who don’t rip up the world juniors, and guys who rise a shitton in their draft year. Korchinski happens to check both of those boxes.

Reading what he says about Korchinski, it’s hard to not come away thinking he’s a fan. I rarely see him project defensemen as top-pairing unless they’re the truly elite ones, and that fact that he bumped Korchinski up from a top-4 projection to saying he tops out at a #2D who is a PP1 guy is pretty significant, given it’s rare he’s going to crown a guy as a #1.

At the very least, he clearly likes him more than he did last year, so its a good sign regardless.

Agreed. He said he’s very much looking forward to him being the guy for Canada at the WJC next year as the lone D able to return.

If he can be a number 2 puck moving stud, we can build around him and Jones for the foreseeable future on the back end. Likely draft another D in the first round in 24 or 25.

The only thing that concerns me about Korchindki is lack of tge great booming piintvshot that scores goals..

We already have $9.5 and his lousy non-goal producing shot from tgevoiibt...Where is that misdingvekementvfrom our D goibg to cone from?

I was also surprised Gavin Hayes didn't make the cut.

Seems like they prefer accuracy for tipi g the puck more than a booming shot missing the net.

Hawks won 3 cups where Seabrook had an average slap shot and the other 3 guy (Keith, Hammer and Campbell/Oduya were less than that.

He has the highest PpG of any first year draft eligible player in the NCAA since Kariya. Your "I suggest you watch the game instead of looking at the box score" jab would hold more merit if he weren't destroying the league he's in as one of the youngest players in said league.

My point was, and remains (as you make another odd comment about how he doesn't think the game at a high level), that players who produce at the rates Fantilli has produced at don't lack hockey sense. You simply can't bully your way to a historic season in terms of production by simply being big and fast, especially as a freshman in the NCAA. There is more to hockey sense then seeing passing lanes, pulling up and finding space.

Fantilli attacks opposition in ways that he knows he can beat them. I've seen the scouting tape on him too. He's certainly been guilty of trying to do to much, skating into trouble, forcing plays but that's all part of the learning and adaption process of a young player and what's going to make him special at the next level (and what's made him special thus far) is understanding how to utilize his physical tools to his advantage. There are plenty of players around the league that tantalize you with their tools that never put it together. That is hockey sense. Understanding what you can do, understanding how to attack opposition, how to expose them, that is what Fantilli has been good at in the USHL and now college and he's been getting better all the time.

Nazer, Fantilli, Ludwinski & Savoie up the middle......I could buy into that!!!

One thing Fantilli can do better than Bedard is close on guys and steal pucks to then attack the other way..

Bedard, he will be the shooter!

Really hoping we at least end up with him as a consolation prize. If the hawks finish last what are the odds that they pick at least top 2? Like 50%?
