2023 NHL Draft situation

It was undeserved criticism. He sucked because his body failed him, not because of anything he did. A lot of us ripped him for being lazy and fat.
I mean, the running joke around the team was his poor diet. It didn't come out of nowhere. And it was mostly out of fun. The same way people make fun of Phil Kessel and hot dogs. It always blows my mind how much fans defend players, as if they need people white knighting for them... Shit like that bothers fans way more than it bothers the players who are being criticized.

Every hockey player who has played into their 30's, likely has an operable medical issue... His surgery is not a big deal. And where is the hip replacement stuff coming from? Because I haven't seen that anywhere.

Most recent Athletic article about Seabs getting into coaching.

An article in which was stated that he believed that he could make a comeback in the NHL post-surgery.

Delusional right up until the bitter end.
That's what i always say all these guys are. Though getting to be that great lying to yourself in that way happens.

It's like people saying can't Kane and Toews see this team was gonna be awful and ask out last offseason. No, they don't see that because they're delusional. They've bought into the mantra all their lives, anyone can win it, we're still great, and just a few pieces away.

Not sure why you think that Toews and Kane think this team isn't going to be awful. They know they are going to be awful, without a doubt. Anything they say to reporters/media is just fluff.

As are many athletes approaching the inevitable retirement. The mind is willing. Most pros have lived and breathed their sport since puberty.

Don't dismiss it as an easy thing to admit especially when it is premature in their mind. Seabs probably expected to play until he was 40 (like others in the sport).

Had he HAD hip replacement? Or does he NEED hip replacement? These are vastly different things.

I don't pay for the Athletic's trash, so.

Seabs had hip replacement, this is a quote from the aforementioned Laz article (for which I refuse to pay more than $1/month for):

“I couldn’t walk,” Seabrook said. “I called Dr. Terry and said, ‘I can’t live like this.’”

Seabrook had an MRI exam. He saw a back specialist. He saw a hip specialist. Finally, he got a full-blown hip replacement, and it changed his life. A mere five weeks after the operation, Seabrook felt so good he called up his doctor and earnestly told him he wanted to return to the NHL.

“He just laughed at me and said, ‘No, you’re not,’” Seabrook said.

Hawks 34GR
Ducks 32GR
Yotes 32GR
CBJ 32GR

Hawks come back from all-star break with 2 home games vs Ducks then Yotes ...must Tank these 4 pointers..

Never noticed this strength of schedule on tankathon before. Maybe it’s new? Looks like the Habs and Jackets are going to have a rough time compared to us.

Not a new feature

37 is really young for hip replacement. It had to have been really bad.

Terry should be shitcanned for operating on his hips and not having a specialty in that orthopedic subfield. I have a friend who went to him for bilateral hip arthroscopy thinking he’s the hawks guy so he’s good and he couldn’t walk a year after either. Terry’s team there wouldn’t even email him back. Total POS.

His view for hip operations were very conservative for any type of resection/debridement to fit the femur to the articular socket, claiming it risks femoral fracture or avascular necrosis & benefits retention of natural biomechanics. The hip arthroscopy surgery itself is contentious, being a new practice over the last 20 years, with outcomes near par with placebo(not having surgery at all), so you’d think that’s the way to go but it is simply half measured. You walk out of the hospital post surgery — no crutches or anything. They pat you on the back & you think it’s going great through the first three months until it’s not. The approach doesn’t fix the problem(which is also more of a feature since skating isn’t a natural movement in itself) and leads to bone on bone osteoarthritis — the kid was crippled at 24 because of it. I called this scenario I believe as soon as the hip surgeries were announced for seabs saying it wouldn’t last more than 3 years

f*** Terry

P.s. to clarify, seabs required a revision hip replacement post hip arthroscopy from Terry

Not sure how useless it is this far out, the difference between 1 and 32 is pretty small.

Columbus has played 3 more games than the Hawks. Hawks would have to lose all 3 just to tie with Columbus record wise.

You look at the Columbus roster and I just don’t see them being this bad. Lots of injuries early on I get it. But man…..

Their goaltending was atrocious for the first 35 games of the season but seems to have picked up now.

They also can't win a road game.

Jenner getting healthy has really helped though. Hopefully things pick up for them.

Yeah. When Jenner came back they ticked up but I think they are still without Werenski which hurts too.
