Of course it’s good! Don’t get me wrong, I like Michkov, a lot. Just wanted to say, that he exploded this year. And I can write you at least 10 players in Sweden with 13, which were playing with 1 or even 2 years older boys and scoring a lot and today they are average. At that age some boys are more physical, bigger, some less and at age of 17, 18, hockey starts to be real deal. Just saying that I think that you can’t say at 14/15 who will be nr. 1 at draft.
I agree that kids fall off all the time, but it's not rare for a #1 candidate to begin to emerge at this age. if I was a betting man I'd say we already have a good sense of some of the top 10 picks in this draft as of today, maybe like 50/50 odds as far as Bedard and Michkov being top 5

And I agree; 50/50 is realistic, but to say now it will be only between Bedard and Michkov in 2023? Maybe Yager or Sisik can overtake it in next years.

I agree with both of your guys points. I look at a guy like Jake Wise who everyone talked about as the bonafide top 3 pick years before 2018 draft. He ended up being a second rounder. Everything can change, but these 2 look really good

Hard to say, like I said - it’s very early. But if I would have to bet today and from what I saw until now, than:
Zeb Forsfjäll (F), Borna Kopac (F), Ludwig Andersson (D) and maybe Otto Stenberg (F)

also like from Finland:

Jesse Nurmi (F), Samuel Sisik (F) and Aron Kiviharju (D) - but he is 2006

Samuel Sisik is really good. Next season he should play in finland u18, so we'll see. In my opinion he can be more talented than Juraj Slafkovsky (which is a very early top 10, maybe a top 5 2022). However, he still has to work on skating and body work without a puck.

I would slightly disagree with you at this point. Not mentioning that they both are relatively young so anything may happen before they reach 18, I gotta say I loved Slafkovsky's game a little more. It has to be objectively said that I really cannot remember better player than him at the age of 15 (amongst the Slovak core ofc).

If comparing those two rn. Skating is comparable though Sisik is more agile obviously due to height. In terms of hockey iq - tied..the main difference is the play style. While Sisik uses his skill to render combination with linemates & more passes. Slafkovský is almost unbeatable along the boards, cannon of wrist shot (freaking accurate tho) and lots of zone entries at the solid speed quite selfishly.

No doubt Sisik is the best slovak 05 and top 5 in Finland.

How old Crosby was, when the hype started? McJesus? Ovechkin? Svechnikov? Kuznetsov was considered a future hockey star at age 12... Yeah, everything can happen, but 15 years is enough pretty often to guess, how good a kid is going to be. Btw, Kuznetsov's stats weren't even close to Michkov's.

I guess the problem is that no one has a good idea about who all the best players are yet from each country. How would someone know that the two best players in 2023 are those two players?

As i wrote earlier i in this thread i have seen quite many of the top players born in 2005. But it is hard to say who is a draft prospect at this early time. The clubs have different policies how and if they move guys up to U18 and so on. But when i watched Uplandia and Folke Filbyter there are som kids that stand out. And of course i like Otto Stenberg and Ludwig Andersson. It will be interesting to see them develop in Frölunda. Anton Petrini (AIK) has always stood out when i seen him play. In Folke Filbyter Borna Kopac (Täby) was really good together with Lucas Stockselius. Färjestad had two guys that stood out. A defender Noel Fransén who is an amazing skater and forward Gustav Ling. From Västerås i really liked Hugo Lejon. And i saw in the thread that someone wrote that Dalibor Dvorsky was nothing in Folke Filbyter, i disagree. He was not as good as in Uplandia, but he was dominant every shift i saw him on the ice. That might be a trend. And now he is back in Slovakia. Zeb Forsfjäll is making a name up in Skellefteå but i have not seen him. A goalie that impressed me over the years is Noah Erliden HV71.

I agree with you, that we have really a lot potentialy good 2005 players in Sweden ( I even think better then 2006 ), but this guys are young and their real potential will be seen in J18 SM. Will be fun to see games with Otto Stenberg and Ludwig Andersson in Frölunda and Petrini and Munther in AIK or Borna Kopac and Lucas Stockselius in Djurgården ( hear they are going there ). Many players can also explode in U16 next season and they will join Forsfjäll, Fransén, Bergström, Ling...and make league very interesting. Will be also fun to see TV Pucken this year and some new hype maybe.

Dvorsky should return to sweden. In slovakia he was just to finish school and help the home team advance to the higher u18 slovak league.

As I know, you can’t sign Hockey Gym in Sweden before 1.January 2021 for 05’s. And Borna and Stockselius are going to stay in Täby next season.

Really interested player her based on stats he look pretty fresh Emil Järventie at eliteprospects.com

It kind of works like this: The SHL teams will start the process by giving their top choices a guarantee ("if you want to play with us and put us as number one on the application we guarantee you a spot at our Hockey gym") already at this time of year. So the top guys born in 2005 already have that on the table. But the application starts first in september ... And the SHL teams should be ready probably around november. And then the teams of Hockeyallsvenskan, followed by the other Hockey gyms. Some of the SHL teams even recruits players to their U16 Elit team with a guarantee to Hockey gym. So this is a really tough (and interesting) time for the 2005 year group. U16 Elit, TV-Pucken, Application and answer for Hockey gym, national team U16.

so i guess they already offered or invited them to hockey gymnasium before somebody else would do it.

Yes, that is the strategy. Potentially a SHL club might have about 10 spots (depends on how big the one year older group is).

i think he was talking about j18, so season 21/22

jap, I was talking about 2021/22, that’s how I heard, which means they will stay in Täby now.
I saw Järventie on one tournament in Finland and I also liked him. Good hockey sence.

Really looking forward to TV-Pucken and U16 Elit next season. I heard Otto Stenberg moved to Frölunda where also Ludwig Andersson plays so Frölunda will probably do well as they use to do. Also interesting to see Färjestad next season with Gustav Ling who is a really great and smart player who both scores a lot of points and works really hard for his team on the ice. But also looking forward to see Petrini next season who looked really good in Folke Filbyter, as well as Ling did. All of these players have big potential in my opinion and there are other great 2005 players so the next season will be interesting.

I think TV Pucken will be really good this year. Many very good 2005 players and it will be fun to see who will won throphy this year. Will be nice to see some players like Joel Svensson, Sagadin, Sandin Pellikka, Zeb Forsfjall, Otto Stenberg, Andersson, Petrini, Tom Willander, Elliot Stahlberg....Pity Kopac and Dvorsky can't play. Would be even better with them, especially Borna Kopac i liked on Folke Filbyter this year.
