Kid is literally telling the world he likes Kent Hughes and want to be picked by the Habs lol

He said that Hughes helped him understand that the 2way game as a center is important back when he coached him. Nowhere did get say he wants to get picked by the Habs.

Just draft Michkov and we can have the next Kucherov/Kane type of player. Franchise changing impact winger to our team. Enough said.
Be like Kane and force us to trade him to only one team? Be like Kucherov and drink beer at a press conference after breaking the laws of salary cappage?
No thank you and a Good day to you sir.

Smith is a diamond in the rough that will require alot of polishment, but if he is our pick, thats because our management thinks they can make him a damn good hockey player so I will trust their judgement and obviously range behind the kid.

We are so lucky to pick 5th, so many great options.

To be honest we don't know enough about Hughes to doubt our picks. Hutson last year for example looks like a free top 5 pick. Even if we don't draft Michkov I will give this group a couple years to wait and see before being bitter just like I gave Bergevin a few years.

We definitely don't regret not drafting Zadina.

Produced less in an inferior league and wasn’t even selected for men’s tournaments.
Adam Sykora was worse prospect/talent during draft year than Dvorsky but he still made it into Slovak men's team.

Also fast wingers have it easier to make an impact

Personally i think Slafkovsky would go before Dvorsky in a draft but they are both very talented.

And he still sucks at it as of today.
He doesn't suck at it. He simply doesn't do it or even try to do it. We don't really know how good he would be at it if he was directed to do it. Im of the belief that it's an actual strategy though as he doesn't play centre in the USNDTP league games. He did a bit more at the U18 which is nice but Leonard is the de facto centre (~70% of the time) on that line and Perrault slots in as needed. Smith stretching the ice / cherry picking the vast majority of the time. He's very very good at it if you have the guys who can get him the puck but he's not exactly a standard centreman.

And why wouldn't Leonard be a better pick then?

Gotta go with Ryan Leonard if you want to continue adding to that group of "Chads" with Slafkovsky.

wouldn't be the worst idea. I see him as a Dustin Brown with more offensive potential (60/70 pts per season player that will compete on all over the ice). It will be interesting however to see the thought process on passing on Michkov, hopefully more arguments than just "Russia", and why Leonard over the other choices.

That wasn’t my question, but keep skirting it knowing I’m right.

I didn't skirt it at all. You just don't do nuance, been there before.

I think Dvorsky is better than Wright, I think Wright might be a cheap and durable 2nd center behind Beniers. In a cap world, it's not always about going for the best talent - it's about building a team. If Seattle is rebuilding, yeah I do the trade. In the current situation, I'm not entirely sure if cap space is not more valuable than the delta between the 2 players (not significant, assuming Wright doesn't self-implode).

The real question you wanted to ask is: if you are the habs, and you can pick between the two players who do you pick: Dvorsky - I'm 65% confident, it's not a slam dunk because both have things to figure out. Clear enough?

Who do you pick and why? And how confident are you about it?
