There's such a hodgepodge of options in that 7 to 16 tier that it wouldn't surprise me if Leonard or Barlow were still available. At the same time I wouldn't be surprised if they both were gone
I've settled around 11 guys I really like in the draft prior to the U18s.

The wave after is not exciting, which is why I think trading the pick should be an option.

I wonder if they would dip into later rounds for an OA or double OA with someone like this guy -

Thinking about "stash until later" type of picks and guys who aren't tiny and if they have size aren't complete plodders at their tier offensively.

Headed to the Five Nations that starts in a few weeks.

Vadim Moroz is my guy if we’re talking non top 60 (which, we should more)

Also, not an overager, but I want the new Russian prospect train to start nabbing goalies. Yegor Zavragin is an august 2005 bday, with impressive mhl stats, and size.

As much as it would hurt to finish strong just to finish 16th overall, that seems like a really good spot to draft Simashev. It would be hard to pass on BPA with all the forward talent, but 16th-18th would be about where the 3rd d-man should come off the board, and I certainly like Simashev more than Gulyayev.

Bedard and Regina weren't thought to be making the playoffs but they did. And tonight he puts up 3-2-5 including the GTG in the third to get the Pats to OT. The only goal he wasn't in on point-wise was the GWG by Svozil.

More Simashev/DBut MHL viewing if anyone is interested -

Edit: DBut missing for the second straight game in this series, but Simashev is playing. I had it on in the background until the DIF game started to go watch Ostlund instead and after not noticing them mention DB50's name at all, I went to find the roster reports and noticed he's out and was out for the last one as well.

They should still take one even if they don't regret taking Leinonen. 3 out of every 4 years.........our system is barren........

Oh, I agree, they should take one this year. There are more out there who look good and they need to keep a steadier influx of players into their system. I could see them continuing to lean more toward EU or NCAA-path tenders for the length of development time. Maybe build on the Czech mafia thing with someone like Hrabal though that's probably sinking yet another 2nd rounder into the position in consecutive years... so maybe not. (Talking myself out of it from the start of the sentence to the end of it. ) But someone in the mid-rounds to just let percolate for later? Especially on a longer development timeline? Sure.

And with no transfer agreement, if they have a spare 6th or 7th rounder laying around, someone like Ruslan Khazheyev might be stash-able for the distant future.

Totally agreed that somewhere in the 4th-7th round we should be looking to take a goalie with a longer signing time (Europe or NCAAs).

How high is Gajan projected?
