Been so focused on the top 10 I had pre-season, I missed a few guys like him.

Over 2ppg in the W...impressive.

Part of why early lists are nice guides yet there will still be guys who shift. Think of the summer love for Cameron Allen. He's not even the best draft eligible RHD in the OHL right now, let alone the entire draft. But he was ranked highly coming off those summer games. It is such an inexact endeavor.

Around the WJC's, I always look for the late risers. There's always a Drouin or Quinn.

Also, fully agreed on Allen. I don't even think he's a 1st round pick at this point. I've been bigging up Gulyayev. Nutso speed.

So I know this is hard to do and maybe not necessarily the "best" question to ask or exercise to do, but........

Let's say Savoie is in this draft class. Where do you put him?

Personally, I think I have him in the 10-15 range. Your thoughts, group?

I like the last month of the CHL season and the playoffs for that. Some guys are just getting "it" and they surge.

As for Allen, not saying he can't get back to where his pre-season hype was, but their is some tarnish there now. He's kind of in the Ty Nelson realm right now - (not a direct comparison, but the hype vs. the results have draft observers reevaluating).

Of all of this year's folks this season, I have seen the NTDP guys the most (Smith, Moore, Leonard), followed by Fantilli. I haven't really dove in hard. I might. I would love to have the cash and time to watch more of these guys. Or to pay for services to break down the footage for me. :D I probably have more Michkov views than all of them with his MHL year last year being free and me having nothing to do but wait around to die here in Gainesville.

The prospect I've watched the most this year, hands down, is Matvei Michkov.

*right now, ask again in June*

Back of the top 10, where he went. I figured him for top 5 in last year's draft though, and can't believe he fell.

Edit: Holy moly. 10,000 messages. God damn I've been here a long time.

Watching prospects today.

Brayden Yager is a stud, and a top pick 5.
I have him 5th behind Bedard, Fantilli, Carlsson and Michkov

10 - 15 is fair, albeit he's near the back-end of the 15, but then again I'm not the biggest Savoie fan

At the moment, late teens to early 20's because he's an OA and OA's almost always fall. :D

Shoulda got one game in

This guy is having a strong season so far for Vancouver. I have yet to look at some footage on him, but he seems like he could be a decent get in the late 2nd or early 3rd, based on what I’ve seen people say about him. He’s not even on any draft lists yet. To put it in to perspective how strong his season is: he’s outscored the other 9 dmen that have played this season by 6 points. Combined.

Second draft eligible that is on the Greyhounds 1st PK unit, and is always out there to defend leads. He’s not physical, but has good positioning. He might be worth taking a shot on in the 7th, or as a free agent. He’s a defensive dman, hence the low point totals (and his team can’t score anyway).

Any obvious risers so far?

Oscar Fisker Mølgaard has essentially become the line fixer the last five HV71 games. Plug him in with some players that doesn't perform and he'll be a great sparkplug.
It's unlikely that he'll keep this up (then he'll be a top 10 pick) but he should at least be an early 2nd round pick.

A thing to note is that he has pretty much exploded, it's common with players from non-traditional hockey countries that once they get settled they go boom.

Was thinking about it today. Leaving out the 1st pick as a 'to be determined', and not accounting for either getting picks from trades, or giving them away:

The Sabres should draft D in this draft, and I mean heavily. We have 8 picks, so at least 6.

The 2021-2022 waves have a lot of forwards and varied types. Rochester is going to need D for these guys to grow with.

Reinbacher sounds exactly like the type of defenseman we need in our system.

To even get a little more specific -- I'd like to see us draft the defensive equivalent of a guy like Kozak who could come into Rochester after 1 season.
