What the heck did Hellnemo do? Come on Habs...1 pick left. For either Hellnemo or Tourigny.

Be below average? .900 in J20 last year with sub .900 playoffs. .916 this year with again sub .900 playoffs.

Guys like that just don't become NHL goaltenders. Almost every goalie who makes it has had absolutely insane and consistent stats as a junior.

If I know the Montreal market…. This sets the tone for a season where fans will run out of patience fast.

They expected this draft to be the crown jewel and they didn’t quite get the exciting picks hoped for. Kent needs to have a good July 1st and subsequent trades, it will turn ugly. It doesn’t look like the Habs will have a fast revival ala Leafs or Hawks. It’s what was expected, If my interpretation of the unseen patience shown the last two seasons is correct.
Majority of Habs fans don't even know the players being picked in these rounds...only few know of the first rounders and mostly are parroting what they heard from someone else.

They clearly do not believe in Primeau and i believe they are right.
Primeau is rather irrelevant to the goalie selections this year, by the time these new g-babies might be NHL ready, Primeau will be like 30 years old.

It's more that the Habs neglected the position in the previous years and this year is a depth goalie draft.

Unless Tourigny has some unknown criminal charge coming his way or admitted to pursuing a professional video game career... I just don't get why teams aren't taking a flyer on him in the 6th.

He can grind, he plays hard, can skate a bit, just expect 4th line upside max, if everything goes well, and it should be fine.

In round 7, Habs should give a chance to Charles Côté or Matteo Mann, two giant Q d-men.

Here
I mean the guy everyone wanted is minimum 3 years away anyway. This draft wasn't going to do anything for the organization in the short-term. Actually Reinbacher is a guy who could even make the team right away given his maturity and development curve.
It’s true, but the hope and anticipation of welcoming him later would have been accepted and given a lot of leeway.

Now, the mood will have dampened, I’m sure of it.

The draft of Russians sealed it for me. There’s pea brain idiots running this club. They drafted all the arguments against Michkov in other players. If Wayne Gretzky had a contract in the WHA (he did) of 3 years. Would you not draft him?

Suzuki will be 30 before any of these goalies take the #1 job. Should have traded down for Askarov.

He's a bad teammate and unexpectedly friendly with poutine.
I meant the meal.

They said his contract isn't the reason they passed on him. Same with San Jose.

All I care about is the NHL projection.

There are maybe 30-40 goalies in the league worth their salt. It's an incredibly difficult and exclusive club to crack, and only the truly elite almost ever have a chance.

You can go down the list of active and past NHL goaltenders who've had reasonable success in the league. It's pretty eye-opening what their stats looked like in juniors.

These days you can find a goalie anywhere. There are always decent goalies available. Not sure I would draft more than one.
