Confirmed Rangers will pick the Hugh Jessiman and McIlrath of the bunch. No faith in this drafting scouting staff of this organization
Um ok, I don't get that. Which of Drury's picks have you not liked? Othmann? Sykora? BMB (in the 3rd). I don't agree with some of later round selections but Laba has exceeded expectations, same with Barbashev. Vaisanen seems to be on a good track. Now I don't think he's been stellar but so far his 2 high picks seem to be NHL bound, which isn't bad for a late mid first and a late 2nd.

I just dont like BMB, im scared he is another Korzcak type. Rather have someone regardless of scoring is upside of a Derek Stepan 2 way center. Not sure what to make of BMB. I love Barbashev and hope Rangers sign him and we dont lose him like Grubbe. Not signing Grubbe who fits the type of players Rangers are looking for. Maybe they think he’s injury prone ?

Obviously depends on who drops, I'm looking at Honzek at 23. Open to trade down and pick a D like Morin late.

There is such a big pool of almost equal value prospects. We need to aim at game changing talent.

I'd generally be sus of the smaller OFD in the draft. And I wouldn't touch a prospect that's not an offensive threat.

I get that but it’s a 3rd round pick. The chances of him making it are slim and he has plenty of time to develop before completely writing him off. He’s not a Randy McNaught. I just didn’t get why you thought drury would whiff on the first round pick. He’s done well with both his 1st picks in his 2 drafts and I think he’ll get a quality player.

The Rangers didn’t sign Grubbe because they seemingly uber reached on him and he’s not worth the contract spot. Reality is that kid just isn’t that good

He was a with the Rangers organization with both Andersson and Kravtsov although a different position in the organization.. Didn’t he have some say on Lias Andersson and Kravtsov? I believe he had some input.

If he had a hand in those then you have to give him credit for the chytil, miller, Schneider picks along with Othmann and Sykora. Also If I remember correctly the Andersson pick was mainly selected by a euro scout(I forget his name) who was retiring. As for Krav I remember hearing that but in the roster thread no one can find anything other than Clarke going over to Russia to scout him. Also I vaguely remember Bobrov was telling both Lias & Krav that they were ready when they came over which prob helped usher in the disconnect between going to Hartford and running home. Who knows for sure but not matter those turned out to be bad picks but Krav did have a huge draft year in Russia.

Avery Hayes lineman and temmate of Brennan Othmann adds RW depth. Does he get signed after memorial cup? Rangers have had a good look. I wonder if they plan to sign him after the memorial cup and why someone like Grubbe isn't signed

Right now the Rangers have 7 more years of Mika, 6 more years of Trocheck and Chytil starts a 4 year deal next year. My guess would be that Mika and Trocheck both do at least 3/4 years of their remaining terms here. Which is to say that with the commitments we already have to our 1,2,3 centers it's not really a position of weakness. I also think BMB is a pretty good prospect. He's about 6'1 195 about right now--by the time he hits 22/23 years old he could be easily be around 210. He's probably more skilled than our other center prospects.

Unless the Rangers move one of their top 3 guys the opening is the 4C job. The competition for that at the moment is Edstrom, Leschysyn, Henriksson, Trivigno, Rempe, BMB, Korczak--a UFA or a player that the Rangers might trade for in the summer. Brodzinski is another guy who could possibly at least fill in.

As far as the draft RW and defense are the two positions that organizationally we are weakest in prospects.

Good list here. Aktell signed with Washington, Smejkal signed with Ottawa, Pulli signed with San Jose. Posted about Samuel Johannesson mid-season, it looks like he signed a 2 year deal to stay in Sweden but theres definitely some precedents of SHL guys getting out of their deals, even multi-year contracts, so maybe still a possibility there. We dealt Nils, could definitely use depth at RD. Would have zero problems giving Bracco a deal to see if he can prove himself in the NHL, never got the chance in Toronto. At the very least would get a great player for Hartford

This article is from the beginning of May about Okulov, he's turned down NHL teams before but he may be able to help at RW if he comes to NA. Grigorenko plays with him for CSKA too. Grig only has a year left on his deal, would be interesting to get him out of that last year. Plenty of players in that category. Would gladly give our old pal Oscar Lindberg a chance to grab a bottom 6 role if he'd terminate his last year in Switzerland. Couple of guys posted about before... Daniil Isayev, 23 has 1 year left on his deal. Finalist for KHL goaltender of the year. We need a back up goalie. Stepan Nikulin (22) has one year left. KHL rookie of the year nominee. I don't know if he'd be able to jump right in but I'd love to get that kid under contract

That article and it's HMs are primarily guys that haven't tested NHL waters yet but there's some retreads and others not mentioned that could provide some value. Gusev wasn't on the list (probably because his contract wasn't terminated yet🤣) but skill wise he's absolutely an NHL talent. He's a name worth throwing out there given how he left the league, its more than likely any return to the NHL will be at a very cheap number. Spooner is a free agent this summer. Ho-Sang has always had questions about his personality and 2way play. Missed the entire season this year. Always been a dynamic player, at the very least I'd give the kid a tryout. Our old HFBoards buddy that used to be mentioned on here all the time before LA signed him, Vlad Tkachyov had his best year back in Russia after not being able to break through the competition on the Kings. He's a free agent this summer.

A lot of these guys are cut from similar cloth, they have their worts but when you're up against the cap like this these are low risk high reward moves that can deepen the roster. You're looking for players at bargain-bin prices that have the chance to exceed their cap hit with the proper usage. Gusev just had his deal terminated because of alcohol abuse... maybe a fresh start over here, he gels with Panarin and you get a top 6 player for a million dollars... maybe he flames out and goes back to Russia.. not a ton of risk there when you can bury that level of money in the AHL. You see these guys like Chandler Stephenson and Hartman become top 6 players at 27, sometimes its just the right situation, the right usage, the right linemates. Lots of different avenues, the free agent market doesn't just have to be limited to just the NHL. Would be nice to see Drury get creative here. Liked the Rydahl signing even though he didn't get an opportunity

Rangers will sign Barbashev.

Grubbe doesn't want to be here.

hypothetically speaking... who's the 'next one' after Bedard?

If the ship sinks with Lavi over the next 2 seasons... maybe there's a silver lining and we get a masculine Crosby.

BMB is one of the best picks we've made in a looooong while.

He could and should be our Cirelli.

Wow it seems you've gotten really flighty lately. Campaigning for various 2nd tier guys to be drafted, while diminishing the guys NYR drafted who have only performed very well.
No idea what 'another Korczak type' means, especially as a negative. Fixated on that he didnt produce immediately as an AHL rookie? He had a strong season and stronger playoff run.
And what that BMB has done is basis for doubt?
Aint seen much actual evidence to project Barbashev over either
But i believe in all our guys for many seasons before giving up on their upside
I respect everyone's opinion, but would appreciate some meat behind the hot takes. No disrespect intended

And yes, they’re related
