Good list here. Aktell signed with Washington, Smejkal signed with Ottawa, Pulli signed with San Jose. Posted about Samuel Johannesson mid-season, it looks like he signed a 2 year deal to stay in Sweden but theres definitely some precedents of SHL guys getting out of their deals, even multi-year contracts, so maybe still a possibility there. We dealt Nils, could definitely use depth at RD. Would have zero problems giving Bracco a deal to see if he can prove himself in the NHL, never got the chance in Toronto. At the very least would get a great player for Hartford
Konstantin Okulov / Photo: © KHL / Bezzubov Vladimir Agent Alexander Chernykh, representing the interests of CSKA striker Konstantin Okulov, spoke about the fate of the hockey player who entered the free agent market. Konstantin enters the free agent market. One of these days we will meet with...

This article is from the beginning of May about Okulov, he's turned down NHL teams before but he may be able to help at RW if he comes to NA. Grigorenko plays with him for CSKA too. Grig only has a year left on his deal, would be interesting to get him out of that last year. Plenty of players in that category. Would gladly give our old pal Oscar Lindberg a chance to grab a bottom 6 role if he'd terminate his last year in Switzerland. Couple of guys posted about before... Daniil Isayev, 23 has 1 year left on his deal. Finalist for KHL goaltender of the year. We need a back up goalie. Stepan Nikulin (22) has one year left. KHL rookie of the year nominee. I don't know if he'd be able to jump right in but I'd love to get that kid under contract
That article and it's HMs are primarily guys that haven't tested NHL waters yet but there's some retreads and others not mentioned that could provide some value. Gusev wasn't on the list (probably because his contract wasn't terminated yet

) but skill wise he's absolutely an NHL talent. He's a name worth throwing out there given how he left the league, its more than likely any return to the NHL will be at a very cheap number. Spooner is a free agent this summer. Ho-Sang has always had questions about his personality and 2way play. Missed the entire season this year. Always been a dynamic player, at the very least I'd give the kid a tryout. Our old HFBoards buddy that used to be mentioned on here all the time before LA signed him, Vlad Tkachyov had his best year back in Russia after not being able to break through the competition on the Kings. He's a free agent this summer.
A lot of these guys are cut from similar cloth, they have their worts but when you're up against the cap like this these are low risk high reward moves that can deepen the roster. You're looking for players at bargain-bin prices that have the chance to exceed their cap hit with the proper usage. Gusev just had his deal terminated because of alcohol abuse... maybe a fresh start over here, he gels with Panarin and you get a top 6 player for a million dollars... maybe he flames out and goes back to Russia.. not a ton of risk there when you can bury that level of money in the AHL. You see these guys like Chandler Stephenson and Hartman become top 6 players at 27, sometimes its just the right situation, the right usage, the right linemates. Lots of different avenues, the free agent market doesn't just have to be limited to just the NHL. Would be nice to see Drury get creative here. Liked the Rydahl signing even though he didn't get an opportunity
