Max/deGrom is still a great 1-2 punch though, no doubt.

I must confess, I feel super weird because I need to cheer not only for the Yankees but for the Mets as well.

The reason: making my first trek back to New York in roughly seven years next month because we have friends that can score MLB tickets. If both NY teams finish in the #2 seed and win their first round matchup ls we should be able to get to watch both of them while we are there.

There are a lot of factors in play but it would be awesome to see some playoff baseball!

They are gonna have two rounds playing 5 games? That's news to me.

Edit: OMG! The 1st round is 3 games, the second round 5 games. the 3rd round and World Series 7 games. This is crazy.

Add a pitch clock, no shifts and restrict throws over to first base next year, this game will be unrecognizable. This crap with a runner on second in extra innings is another lame brain idea.

They wanna shorten today's game why not play only 3 innings. Geez!

This is the biggest regular season series that I can remember in the last 20 years. So much on the line. A nice break to get some rest for Lindor, Alonso, Nimmo, and McNeil would go a long way. Could also allow Marte time to not rush back. He has been missed.

As for Alvarez, this is an audition. McCann is not getting the job done at all. Even his defense has been sketchy. If Alvarez is stinging the ball at DH, he needs to get reps behind the plate in the Nats series. You can still start Nido, who has hit well post all-star break (.290/.319/.449) but you can see what you have. McCann should not be on the postseason roster.

Unfathomable. DeGrom came off the IL pitching lights out, and no matter what he’s faced he’s always been lights out from the get go even while pitching with discomfort, which is why I considered him the best in the game

Tough spot for alvarez he looked overmatched. Jansen threw 25 pitches and Minter threw as well though will be tough to get them back out there tomorrow with Scherzer on the hill. Win tomorrow and go into the rubber match with Bassitt with a chance to go 2 up.

I agree, but he did look overwhelmed. Was trying to hit a grand slam.

Really wish he got the call sooner in the year when mccann got hurt. He'd have his feet wet already.

There is 0 chance the Mets get through San Diego, LA, and Atlanta. The odds have to be very close to 0%. They needed to win one of these three and they just rolled. I hope they can come back and win this game, but I just don't see it.

I was listening on the radio on the way back from a wedding and Rose is trying to pull the Marte injury excuse.

The Mets are losing these games because only a few players on the team are performing and they’re getting lousy pitching.

Missing Marte sucks, but he’s not the reason why the Mets just got swept.
