Tiki Barber is horrendous so is Tierney…
FAN on trade deadline day have this clown on talking football.

Auto shutoff

I’m glad the talent is being spread around, and in the NL as well. Perfect for the Yankees
Ha I just said this to n someone In a text .

If we did Stanton + for Devers + then flipped Devers, Torres + 2 pitchers, I think that is at min competitive to this SD offer.
Be that as it may.
Tying up $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ in both Soto + Judge may be problematic.

Like there was a 0% chance that Soto was ever being traded to the Mets. Your scenario had a -69% chance of happening

The Padres are going to essentially be adding Hader, Bell, Soto and Tatis between now and the end of the season.

If they can't somehow win with this group, It wont be for a lack of effort.

I don't get the hosmer add but he has a NTC and may say no. Why would he say yes?

He shouldn’t, he earned the clause, but I could see him not wanting to be an asshole to his Padres teammates when they are getting a 23 year old Hall of Famer.

But, I still think he shouldn’t waive without either more years added to his deal or some guarantee the Nats would trade him by the winter.

Works well for everyone else because SD will still never finish ahead of the Dodgers.
The only thing is that this San Diego team is going to get the 1st wildcard and would be facing the top team in the NL. The reality of the NL is that Braves-Mets-Dodgers-Padres is the top 4 teams. Whoever is WC1 and WC2 between those 4 teams will be playing each other in a 3 game series and one won't even make the NLDS.

He has 3 more years on his deal and is getting sent to a team that is in complete rebuild mode and is being sold. I thought the point is that the nats were looking to get rid of financial commitments but instead of dumping Corbin they took on Hosmer's contract.

Edit: I think he has an opt out after this season but I don't know that he can get the same money elsewhere.

The Soto deal equivalent for the Rangers is something like:

Matthews and Bunting for Laf, Kakko, Othmann, Jones, Garand, and cap dumps.

It would probably never work in the NHL for cap reasons, but fun to think about. NHL GMs are also probably way too risk averse to try something like this.

So Soto rejected the deal.

I wouldn't mind him on the Mets - send them Vogelbach and take the $25-$30 million that was offered. Just need a competent 1B behind Alonso that can hit somewhat,
He killed the Mets in the 2015 WS, and I haven't forgiven him.

Saw something that said Hosmer going to Boston is a done deal but not sure about the source.
