The Yankees should sell, but they won’t. They’ll make a few moves, get close or get into the WC, get eliminated, blame injuries, then run it back with the same team next year. Judge should’ve fled to San Francisco when he had the chance.

Eppler is using the GM Mode strategy of signing guys and flipping them to build the farm up.

I'd move Verlander too at this point and you'll get a much bigger haul for him. You've got young bats, go find the young arms to compliment them.

The thing I read and I don't know how true it is, is that they want to contend next year and there's apparently not a whole lot on the UFA market. So they don't want to move all of Scherzer, Verlander, and Quintana and then have these gaping holes next year. Again that's just what I read, I don't know who is out there.

Scherzer isn’t gonna return much

Verlander likely isn’t getting traded his 1st season, not sure he’d return much either

These guys were supposed to be big
Players and pitching in big games for the Mets, there’s not much positive about this…

Martino said Scherzer did agree to waive and the players are agreed upon, but the final detail is how much cash is involved (i.e. how much Cohen will eat I assume).

EDIT: Or maybe it's to do with Scherzer's opt out? Who knows.

Top pitchers are often also the best hitters in little league. Traditionally, at a certain point a Coach will tell them to forget about the hitting and focus on the pitching (or vice versa, depending on which skill set is superior/shows more growth potential).

Hopefully now coaches will be more open to allowing players who excel at both to continue to develop both skill sets.
Yea I hope we see more players like this. Just so much fun to watch

Yeah tricky situation, especially since we have no major league ready arms really.

Isnt there some big time japanese pitcher thinking about coming overseas?

Also odd that all we keep getting is fielding prospects and not pitchers in trades.

I’m glad they’re accumulating prospects for sure but goddamn what an insanely dreadful season haha.

Scherzer and Verlanders Mets tenures are doing to be incredible trivia bits

And now the deal is done. Given Scherzer's reluctance to guarantee his option, I wonder what impact that has on the return.

Either way whatever, never particularly cared for Scherzer as a Met, so adios.

People saying Acuna probably becomes Mets top prospect now
He's a different type of player in their system. Fast, gap hitter. This current team is slow and he will definitely give them a speed element. Also versatile. Plays 2nd, SS, and has been in CF this season.

He's tearing up AA. I don't think it's unheard that he'll be in the bigs sometime next season.

If you figure out a way to move Marte (which I think happens in the winter), McNeil moves there. Mauricio is getting LF reps and likely where he makes his ML debut later this season.

I heard the ETA for Acuna in the majors is 2024.
