I’d give him Stanton, Severino and Donaldsons salary.

I’m down with the Yankees paying Judge and Ohtani and just filling out the roster with good defenders and contact hitters …. ie real baseball players
That's the dream, but reality is probably East Coast Angels

Literally the most talented baseball player ever

I’ll never stop laughing at that poll on HF that asked who the most dominant big 4 athlete currently is and Ohtani won by a landslide with Oilers fans pretending they’ve ever watched baseball making their arguments.

Do I think they can get him? likely not but Heyman mentioned Padres are listening on Soto

That’s the player the Yankees need whether it’s by trade and/or FA after 2024.

build around Judge, Soto, Volpe, Cole and Rodon

Building around 3 30 year olds...what could go wrong?

yankees hitting is downright garbage, blow it up indeed. only keep gleyber, judge and volpe.

what i fear is what will cashman wind up doing. bringing in trout AND rendon would be something that cashman would do.

Angels aren’t selling they are trying a Hail Mary to win with Ohtani before he leaves in FA don’t need to worry about that lol

Top pitchers are often also the best hitters in little league. Traditionally, at a certain point a Coach will tell them to forget about the hitting and focus on the pitching (or vice versa, depending on which skill set is superior/shows more growth potential).

Hopefully now coaches will be more open to allowing players who excel at both to continue to develop both skill sets.

Very true. A lot of the guys that were just drafted, you read that they were both pitchers and played in the field. Not just the high school guys, either--lots of college guys. The Mets just drafted a guy in the third round who posted a .960 OPS in 150 college games and was also a power reliever, hitting the high-90s over 39 games. They will let him both pitch and hit once he turns pro.

I'm not arguing he's special or anything, because in fact there are so many guys like him.

Nice to get something for Robertson, a 38 year old pending UFA, but no arms and a catcher? Vargas has promise I guess.

Amazin' Avenue said the trade was an absolute steal for the Mets, FWIW.
Yeah the one guy they say is likely to make most of the Top 100 lists after the season and the other guy was a riser, too. The two guys were ranked something like 18 and 20 in Miami's system but apparently the people that really know the prospects say they'd be a lot higher of the lists were done today.

It was hilarious to see the reactions on twitter this morning, which was the News and Post old guys using various sites prospect rankings form January to shit on the Mets.

Only for a lot of the writers of those lists to wake up later and call them dummies for using 6 month old write ups on 18 year olds.

LOL. Really, Scherzer? Unless someone told him two days ago "We are unequivocally not going to sell!" then what the hell did he think was going to happen?

Basically everyone has pegged the Mets as light sellers for at least a couple weeks. The obvious guys--Robertson, Canha, Pham--they're all goners. Apparently everyone was aware of that except him?

If Cole and Judge were smart, both would ask for a trade and get away from this garbage
