Cohen said Verlander/Rodon and a mid rotation guy are the targets.Nobody besides Texas was giving deGrom that insane contract

Anyone who thinks Jake wasn't pitching hurt last year down the stretch when he was getting knocked around so he could prove he was healthy to pitch with the opt out coming is delusional.

This stings but it helps the Mets. They couldn't tie up 80m a year into two elite aging pitchers with injury concerns.

They lost Jake when they signed max bc they created the new market for what Jake would be looking for when he opted out, which was max money

It's funny reading fans get so upset over a guy walking into his last free agent contract opportunity take the largest sum of money in a tax free state to set up his family for life. Fans think they are owed some sort of loyalty from players when the shoe is on the other foot the organization will send a guy packing.

Degrom's body has randomly given up on him with various issues. One pitcher his UCL can snap at any given moment. Knowing that, you would take the money and run every time.

Eh it sucks but deGrom has basically been a special guest star/cameo guy the last few years.

Mets gets two-three pitchers who won't break down post-All Star Break is a win.

Walker/Bassit/Corasco all stunk down the stretch.

They also need Peterson and McGill to progress and that's an internal solution. Not turn into studs just stay healthy and competent down the stretch.

Anyone a member over at Metsrefugees? Changed my email and I’m locked out for like two months, their server never sends the email confirmation. Would love to be able to post there again.

No surprise. Verlander hates the Yankees. He was always going to the Mets or staying in Houston.

so all it took for cashman to get resigned was to sit back, watch and enjoy judge have a season of epic proportions on his contract year while carrying the team 75% of the season.

The Yankees don't care about titles anymore. It is what it is.
and why should they? as long as the win loss column is decent the fans will always fill out the stands.

i'm also under the impression that they aren't interested in even putting out a decent team on the field anymore. besides judge and a few of the starting pitchers, was there anyone else on the team that one was also really enjoying watch play?

A big reason for that is Cashman's abysmal drafting record. Outside of Judge and Cole who didn't sign, our first round picks have been busts for a long time.

drafting amateurs for baseball in the first round is way more harder than nba, nfl, and nhl.

the past couple of years the yankee lineup has been all right handed hitters, with rizzo and hicks being the only exception. hicks i'm tired of seeing leaving runners l.o.b. when he's up at bat. i knew donaldson was going to be a dud. gleyber only hits well at home. rizzo is awesome when he's on a good streak, and those streaks don't really happen that often. if the pitching wasn't solid this would be a .500 team.

we'll see what cashman does in the winter meetings.

If I’m Hal Steinbrenner I have to intervene as much as possible. They just can’t let Judge walk.

The fact Cashman is still here is just doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

extending Cashman sums it up.

Done caring about Yankees baseball. Hopefully Judge signs somewhere else
