Bones will happily have his hands full playing around with line combinations this preseason, that’s certain.
What he could do is spread it out into 4 even-strength lines if he felt like it, that is if the pieces fall together at all right in pre-season.. It’s not what he’s used to, but the possibility is always lurking.

Enter the Tomato, bringing the sauce.

Pity Kevin Sawyer, yet another polysyllabic name for him to mangle.

Gruffalo to the top line? Nino? Koops? Bueller?

I get not throwing Ehlers up with Connor and Scheif

I can see why loading up Lowry with Nino and Iafallo makes sense.

If we are an injury away from Appleton playing first line though... we can use another top six wing for sure. I love him as a 4th line Pk guy. But bumping him up over Nino or Iafallo is questionable.

Iafallo - Scheifele - Ehlers
Connor - Perfetti - Vilardi
Names - Lowry - Nino
Barron - Kupari - Appleton

Morrissey - Demelo
Samberg - Pionk
Heinola - Schmidt

Helle
Bro

Chevy was candid about shopping D, I think Dillon is gone for futures.

Top 6 lines have size and a good defender on each line, our fourth line is 2/3s of our third line last season at the opener
Logan Stanley what happened to him 18 overall pick

ofc small sample of mins with esp w/ some Fwds just over 60 mins of game play. and things like quality of competition (IIRC 1st and 3rd line on average face higher tier opponents vs 2nd and 4th) and period in game (ie: opponents usually start pushing for way more offense when down) can influence this

but so far from the gp shot-attempts against vs chances against

Easiest answer is Nino as 1RW...

Then maybe try Kupari at 2C instead of Names

Nino makes that third line click though. He was the missing piece last year and looks to be again this year. I think his brand of offense better fits with Lowry and Apples. He's like a grinder with skill that plays a grinders game. Fits better with other players who play that game.

I haven't liked him much in our top 6 as our top 6 tend to want to play more of a low to high hold the puck and switch game. He generally likes to get the puck to the net as quickly as possible which doesn't quite fit with what his linemates want to do.

He clicks with every line he plays... that being said, the Lowry line is our defacto 2nd line anyway - so top 6 is irrelevant

To 'fix' things right now, in a perfect world
Iafallo-Scheif-Perfetti
Connor-Lowry-Nino
Barron-Names-Ehlers
Gus-Kupari-Apples

Before you lose your mind - Lowry and Nino are both 1 pt away from being tied for our leading goal scorers... Im not sure that time with those two wouldn't help KFC's game get back on track

As you say, a Bowness team is not going to score a ton - so lets run four lines

I don't really have an issue with running 4 lines. But I think we need to be careful about reading too much into the heater those two are on.

Bold play putting our leading scorer on the 4th line…

If you were to rate our defencemen using these same parameters, you would see Logan Stanley as one of the best defensive players in the league, so I’d lean to the side of this analysis not being super meaningful at this point…

Stanley hasn't even played 15 mins of ice time. It also isn't individual players. so it would not be the same parameters.

ofc it's a still small number of games (first thing mentioned that in the post). But seeing how many/rate of giving up chances or shots in those games still shows how they've done to date. Will that continue or not or make any season-long conclusions. I wouldnt base that off merely a handful of games though for sure.
