PV said he doesn't expect things to really come together for a new until around Christmas time, and we've indeed played better starting around that time, so I imagine the real scrutiny has actually only just began
I’m hoping he cleans house….

Eakins can stay until offseason, then ship him out

They have also had an easier schedule. Pittsburgh and Vegas reminded us of who we are.

Verbeek needs to make changes as soon as this summer. We need to start turning the ship . I’m all for tanking this year have accepted it, but I want to see at least .500 hockey next year , not just a 20 game stretch but all season.

If the Oilers are going to activate Yamamoto for Wednesday's game, one of Janmark, Ryan, Foegele, or Puljujarvi will have to be waived tomorrow or traded. Might be an opportunity for us to facilitate something, though I imagine they'll look outside the division first. I expect them to just waive someone over paying assets to move a guy like Puljujarvi anyways
No waivers, so they're probably nearing a trade

He's got a lot of work to make that happen. Especially when we lose out and don't get Bedard.

Couldn’t they send him on a conditioning stint to give themselves more time?

Not activating him yet is another option though the media was all saying he was expected to play tomorrow

Gotcha. My guess is that they're explore all options before they risk loss of assets. Getting him into the lineup isn't that urgent.

It’s time to start scratching guys and holding them out for a trade. Call up some scrubs and throw them in there. I’m thinking that process will begin this weekend

I get the whole don't want the guy to get hurt crap. But The sitting players thing for trades for more than a few days out should be illegal. Play the f***ing game.
I mean you guys being sat because a trade is imminent but sitting them just because you might trade them in the next couple weeks? I don't think I've ever seen that. Feels weird.

It does but it's hard to argue against. Especially for actual rentals. But at some point someone has to call it out as improper.

We can’t really do that unless we get more skaters on IR. The roster is at 23 players right now and they’re carrying 3 goalies.

At this point I think the goal is determining which of Comtois/Jones/Leason are worth keeping, and showcasing the trade bait players. Call-ups will be post trade deadline, one would assume.

Yeah, you have to wonder how the players feel about it. I can't imagine they're happy.

Players that are about to be traded to a contender I bet dont care much. They are getting paid to sit and wait. Only a few guys would actually care, but not sure anyone who is chasing a consecutive games played streak is really on the block.

I guess I'm thinking about it from the perspective of "the unknown." Players always mention how emotionally taxing it is during this time of year because they don't know if they're getting moved or not. I would think that could be a difficult conversation to have with a GM.

"Hey Player X, we're looking to move you but we don't want you to get hurt so we're going to sit you."

Then imagine if the GM doesn't get a good enough offer and decides not to trade you. Awkward.

Not to me tonight that these guys are often very close and the time on the rink together is often distraction from the other stressors and that's being taken away by sitting them.
