Looking for some advice...

I haven't been to the Garden in 5+ years. Buddy of mine is flying in for Game 1 (the only date that works for him.) He'll be staying near the Garden, but I'll be coming up from the Braintree area.

With it being Marathon Monday, what do you all think is my best bet for getting in and out of the city? Drive in? Take the Red Line? If driving is my best option, do any of you have some recommendations for parking? I don't want to park under TD.

I'm still not sure if I'll be heading straight to the game or if I'm going to go in early for dinner. Would any parking recommendations change with arriving at ~5pm versus arriving at ~2/3pm?

If you think the T is my best bet, do I need to be worried about service ending before I'm able to get back on?

Normally I wouldn't be stressing over this, but with Monday being the Marathon I figured I should ask for some help. Thanks in advance!

OK, I think we can all agree that I have been extraordinarily patient.

Can we drop the f***ing puck please?

This wait is doing me in…….

I’m actually only sort of joking. I’m soooooooooooo ready for playoff hockey. As much fun as the records and history has been, it feels like we qualified for the playoffs last November!!!!

I think it will be crazy. As rough as the T has been, I think that’s your best bet. Driving in on Marathon Monday could be intense.

It’s too bad the Logan Express across from the Braintree Mall doesn’t stop at South Station.

Any word on if they'll bring up guys like Reilly, Stralman, and Wagner to practice with the NHL team or will they stay with Prov to get more ice time in their playoffs?

Wasn't Lyon the one who flipped the double bird in the Calder cup photo last year? Lol

The red line runs til about 1, I think? Worst case scenario you get stuck with an Uber. Next to worst case, the last train is for Ashmont, they kick you off at Savin Hill and you take a bus to Braintree. Not ideal but you’re probably fine on the T as long as we don’t get close to 4OT

Parking is usually ok as long as you’re booking with ParkWhiz or SpotHero, you select non event parking starting around 4pm until midnight (the app doesn’t care if you show up at 530, and usually they will automatically max your parked time when you make the reservation so you still pay the same rate but get more time. Usually 12 hours), and you don’t get much closer than government center. I like to use the lot onSomerset St or the bigger garage under the One Beacon building. Both should be possible for about $15, sometimes they are $9. Post Office Square is a good underground garage as well, for short money and it’s slightly more of a walk but you’ll have an easy time driving out of the city. The garages in gov ctr or near the Garden are disasters after games, and you may have a harder time getting to the highway.

Personally, i prefer to drive. If you can aim to leave by 430, with parking already reserved, you should have time to park, crush a sandwich and a drink, and get to your seats.

Anyone sending Lou "hate mail" needs to step off!
1) I agree completely.

2) “Step off” is simply an awesome phrase. Reminds me of Elaine on Seinfeld.:laugh:

Red line to Green line is likely your best bet to getting in the city. Getting out shouldn't be too bad, granted the Green line is the worst branch of all the T. If you're lucky they'll waive you on the trolly for free. I can't count the amount of times late at night the conducters of the Green line just waive me on without paying

I don’t like that game 4 on Sunday afternoon. I’m working 3-11 . Hopefully the Bruins are up 3-0 in the series and it’s really not that important of a game .

Where is this thread? I remember what my prediction was :naughty:

Some of the comments are crazy!!

Is NESN covering the first round games or are they just on ESPN/TNT?
The locals used to have the first round and the networks took over in the second.

Bruins in 5, but they only lose that one game if they take their foot off the gas pedal. Hathaway, Marchand and Bertuzzi completely negate whatever Tkachuk brings.

I picked B's in 6

..but if they can bring their best playoff 'A' game every game ...they win in 4

The B's roster is loaded with talent and heart, and if unleashed to it's full potential, combined with hard work, great goaltending and a good game plan ...there's no stopping them

Mark my words, this is going to be a very difficult series. I picked us in 7 but this is one of our most difficult match ups. I do not like the way we eased into this series, and I do not like the matinee to start. Our record in matinees is good but our play in them has been sluggish. I know this will anger some of the board, but I expect us to lose game one and then recover.

I usually have no idea what you're talking about but game 1 is at 730 on Monday - what are you talking about?

I don't expect you to reply to this but if the Panthers want to forecheck heavy than fine. The Bruins mobile D will mitigate that and a heavy forecheck also means more odd-man rushes the other way and more scoring opportunities for Bruins. There are pros and cons no matter what strategy is employed. Teams that forecheck heavy are hard on their own D-men. Florida's D will be forced to defend more off-the-rush when they get outmanned on a failed forecheck as their supporting forwards are caught deep in the Bruins zone.

Honestly the opposite would scare me more......an 8th seed that sits back all game and waits to pounce on opportunities while praying their AHL goaltender doesn't give up a soft one forcing them to open up, hoping the Bruins forwards get frustrated. We've seen that show before.

The bruins blue line defense is DESIGNED to create dump and chase forecheck hockey. They erase offense exactly this way. They are the best team in the nhl (in recent NHL memory really) at puck retretival and zone exits after a dump. So ya - forecheck all day Florida and this series will be over in 4 games.
