Panthers will be a tough out but historically, they haven't won a playoff series in almost 30 years.

They beat the Capitals in round one last year. It wasn't pretty but they did it. They won't be repeating that success this season though. Too many wrong decisions made in trying to work out how to improve the playoff credentials of the team has only sent them backwards. Still a decent team, but not good enough to be a serious threat, especially under a very average coach.

Thanks, my memory had the Caps winning that series, lol. I must have been in a different reality stream.

Not a problem. You can definitely be forgiven for thinking that - Florida should have steamrolled Washington with their pace and offense, instead it was a sluggish, dour affair that the Panthers did win in 6 but without ever looking convincing. The writing was on the wall and then they duly got swept by Tampa. Management got jittery afterwards and here we are now with them coming in as the 8th seed instead of the 1st.

This is what I'll be wearing

the most poignant jersey I own....worn by DK after Marathon Monday....now worn by me to honor and remember all that took place that Monday and in the days that followed

Voted in 6.
If Boston goes on a run and gun with the Panthers they will get in problem.
Also, one hot keeper can do alot of damage, hope the Panthers one won't go on a tear.
But Boston is well balanced, has experience and leadership, have the best D core and imo the best NHL duo in net! With this, Boston in 6

At long last… we can avenge the 1996 playoff embarrassment at the hands/paws of the Panthers!!!

I voted Bruins in six, but I’d really like to see a shorter series - in the Bruins’ favor, of course.

Monday seems so far away.
I voted B's in six as well, since Panthers beat us twice in regular season thinking they might take two in this series...Four 'tendie hugs in home or away gear will do the trick:popcorn:

Paul Maurice may be one of the most mediocre coaches in the history of the NHL. There is no excuse to lose a series to a team coached by him. Over 1800 games coached by him and he's barely over .500 in the regular season and well below .500 (.446) in the playoffs). Took over a 1st place team that won a huge trade in the off-season and still only got them barely into the playoffs on the backs of a hot minor league goaltender and an easy schedule to close out. Quarter-century of Maurice-coached teams and I still couldn't tell you what style of coach he is. Is he an offensive-minded coach? Defensive-minded? All these years later I have no idea.

Once again, there is no excuse to lose a playoff series to a Maurice-led team. None.
To your larger point on the importance of coaching, this will be a good test for Jim M. Florida has strengths that need to be guarded against and weaknesses that can be exploited. The B's are a well balanced team that has proven to be the best team in the league. It will be a very good sign if the B's handle this series with no drama.

obviously tkachuk will be an absolute bastard all series, but ryan lomberg will be universally hated halfway through the 1st period
of game 1. sam reinhart has been a bit of a bruins killer for years, and anton lundell will play a big role in this series with sam
bennett banged up. but brandon montour has been the biggest surprise on this team, never saw a 70+ point season coming
from him.

bruins the better team, if bob finds his game (i cannot imagine alex lyon seeing the ice in this series, but i guess ya never know)
florida may get this series to 6.
