He was more of a sentimental favorite because he plays with his hair on fire and is a joy to watch.

See, that's what I like most about him. We haven't had a guy like that since Doan still cared about playing.

If Michkov falls to us, maybe we look to Washington for an offer. Assuming they even have any interest. Ovechkin will be retired and have the record by the time his KHL contract ends.

They did however, pull the trigger on Miroshnichenko last draft.

You forgot to move Reinbacher down 1 and Wood up 1 :D
I like Wood a lot as a kid. Really impressive interviews and articles. I like that he tore up his Jr A league and went across the continent and killed it as the youngest player in D1. I like his shot and his size. His feet and his motor worry me a lot. A bit of a Kaliyev. Who I really like. But a lot had to go right for Kaliyev.

I'm still very confused by the Perreault-Smith-Leonard line.

Perreault and Smith are supremely skilled. They broke records. They're both average skaters and average size, which is fine when you have hands and vision. My question is about willingness to grow and adapt. They trashed their opponents with slick hands. The time and space won't be there for them in the NHL. Are they going to adapt and grow like Garland did, or are they going to stick to their specialty like Strome did?

Leonard is polar opposite in my mind. He plays the pro game. He has all the intangibles. I question if his skill set is worthy of a top 6 pick. His output was very impressive in isolation but why was it so drastically below that of his linemates? He put up a pile of goals but his shooting percentage was an insanely un-sustainable 26%? I can't say that he's not worth a pick at 6 OA but I'm very skeptical.

Washington could probably get him out of his deal early. If our Top 5 rated players are all gone, I’d be willing to take an overpay to move down to 8th. Danny Briere already said there’s no way Michkov would drop to 7th and they wouldn’t pass if he did. So if Washington had Michkov 3rd on their list, maybe they’d be willing to give up way too much.

I’d be gambling that Philly pivots to Reinbacher and I get Dvorsky at 8th. Plus Ryan Chesley and their 2nd (40th) for 6th and their own 3rd we acquired for Johan Larsson (72nd).

Ferrrari and Scouch have similar rankings this year. Both have Simashev in their top 10 and Musty in their top 12. I like both players just not sure about those spots. The one that really stood out to me was Gavin Brindley in both of their top 12 as well.

Musty has been unbelievably frustrating to watch the last two seasons. He makes Geekie look like Bergeron when it comes to consistency.

I haven't watched enough of him to weigh in too much. I presume they like that he is on the younger side of the draft eligible, big frame, play-making skill. Recently listened to some commentary from Elite Prospects here, they touch on many draft topics. Leonard and Musty commentary in the first 10 mins. Clearly a more progressive approach to their scouting, so take it for what it is worth.

I heard somewhere that a Dvorsky comparison was Ryan Strome , does that sound accurate ?
Offensively it makes some sense. But I think he’s really, really good defensively. I also think he’s more sturdy, stronger, more solid all around.

Musty is worth a gamble later in the first or early in the second. He shows really impressive flashes. Perfect pick for a team like STL with 3x 1sts.

I dunno, I haven't even seen the kid play, but from every description I've read I just really want Leonard at 6.
We all miss Shane Doan… someone that gives a rats ass when nobody else doesn’t. I get those vibes from Leonard. The kind of guy that commands respect from the league with his play and leadership. Wasn’t sure about his shot because it didn’t initially look all that impressive. After reading those comments from the goalies on his team, I went back and did take notice to what they were pointing out. How heavy his shot can be despite not being in terrific shooting position or being handcuffed due to his strength. He’s a cowboy like Doan.
