Too similar? They definitely aren't in the same range pick wise.Drafting Benson and Heighdt is mutually exclusive, really.

Take the center. What happens if Dvorsky and Benson are both there? Who is likely to fall a couple spots after our pick? I’d love to trade up after 9 if both are there. What would the pride be? 17 a 2nd this year and next?
Take the vastly better player. Always BPA.Take the center.
Different words, but same thing I said.Take the vastly better player. Always BPA.

Better at playing against teenagers...No you didn’t. Dvorsky is not better than Benson at anything.
If you draft Benson, he brings a lot of attributes... but definitely not the heighdt.Too similar? They definitely aren't in the same range pick wise.
Oh, it was a pun. I just thought you'd fat fingered the name.If you draft Benson, he brings a lot of attributes... but definitely not the heighdt.
If we get Benson , I hope they keep him away from NHL or AHL for at least 3 years. Build some muscle before they bring him in. Yager at 17 will be great , just not sure if he's a center, probably not.Benson is one of the top offensively gifted and creative players in the draft hands down..
If we want actual skill, Benson then Yager would go a long way to addressing that
I get the feeling we may have to move a bit higher than 17 for this to be a reality. I wonder if 17 and a second might be doable to move up a few spots.Benson and Yager could very well be our Keller and Connor in a few years. Intriguing.
I just ran realgud's drafter on normal and first try got this. Not that it's something I want to do, but certainly possible. Probably not with that Lenni dude going to... Arizona? That seems unlikely. But there's lots of guys that could just as easily move into the low 10s. Danielson, Simashev, Willander, Ritchie, Honzek, etc...I get the feeling we may have to move a bit higher than 17 for this to be a reality. take the better player (benson)Take the center.
Cowans style of play and how good he was in the playoffs makes me think hes going earlier than people will expect. Itll be a classic "reach" pick that will turn out fine in a year or two. Hes 53 on Bobs list, I wouldnt be surprised if the wings take him with one of their 3 seconds at allI also could see Detroit being really high on Easton Cowan from London.
In one of my attempts with Realgud's draft simulator Cowan went 25th, so we may have to move up if we really want him, but on another attempt I was able to select him with one of our 2nd rounders.Cowans style of play and how good he was in the playoffs makes me think hes going earlier than people will expect. Dvorsky is no-brainer, Benson most likely scores more points but Dvorsky's overall game will improve the team more. Dvorsky is exactly the type of player what Yzerman wants to build this team around, strong 200-foot game, skill, grit, character and the org has said that Red Wings needs to become bigger and tougher to play against. Also Red Wings needs goals, Dvorsky adds both and brings more depth in the middle. And Dvorsky is SHL bound next year, the best developmental league in the world, Yzerman himself said that. What happens if Dvorsky and Benson are both there? Do you think Dvorsky will be available at 9? He seems to be rising.Dvorsky is no-brainer, Benson most likely scores more points but Dvorsky's overall game will improve the team more. Not to even mention, 4 out of 5 first round picks are from Europe. Outside the top-5 names i don't believe that Yzerman would not pick anyone except Dvorsky.
Hmm interesting, to me it's the total reverse as I think Benson is a much better defensive player, more skilled, more grit and more character. Dvorsky is bigger and possibly a better goalscorer. Benson is simply so much better at basically everything. I don't mind Dvorsky, and especially if that's Steve's pick at 9 tbh.Dvorsky is no-brainer, Benson most likely scores more points but Dvorsky's overall game will improve the team more. As a Redwings diehard fan and uneducated evaluator of draft talent I guess I'll just hope both are available and see who Stevie picks. It will be very interesting to see if we don't move the 17 pick up slightly to perhaps look at Perreault, Barlow, Moore or Yager as the next pick, immediately after Benson/DvorskyHmm interesting, to me it's the total reverse as I think Benson is a much better defensive player, more skilled, more grit and more character. Benson is more skilled but overally Dvorsky is a better player. Dvorsky would have outscored and outplayed Benson, if also he would have played in WHL.Hmm interesting, to me it's the total reverse as I think Benson is a much better defensive player, more skilled, more grit and more character.
