I think you can be aggressive at 17, but we aren't getting superstar talent in that spot. If we got a solid second liner with that pick we would be doing awesome.

I didnt like the pick that much i wanted Dobson and Necas year before, i´ve also didnt like Kasper and wanted Kulich, who would be already playing on wings right now. Yes, you could not predict prospects future, but Sale is too much risk at 17, not at 43.

Sale is risk in top 10 but definitely not in top 20 many guys in top 20 even in top 10 have problem with skating, hockey sense or are one dimensional, but Sale is not one of them. Really suprising production is worrying for scouts, when it is actually excellent for pre draft player in grindy defensive Extraliga, not to mention he has same production 3rd line unlike Necas who played with Erat on top line on playoff team that won cups 2 years in a row.

This thinking, could end and will end as many times before really, really badly you know that? Rebuilding team picking 3rd/2nd liner at best, because he is hard working grinder in first round of this draft is just borderline madness. Picking physically strong Rasmussen over Necas who was physically underveloped, non physical, but skilled and ridiculously fast skater was great choice after all eh? Picking Kapanen over small weak, but electrifying playmaker Pastrnak too. Skipping Sebastian Aho thanks to his small size and non physicality, Johny Gadreau, Brayden Point whatever you know the rest. Skill>Physicality/ Compete every fcking day. You can make players eat ice if you have good coach, but you can´t teach skill/ hockey sense. Same can be said about Riley Heidt, who is also extremely underrated.

Canadian and US D´s were really bad even against Sale who apparently sucked when he was doing whatever he wanted without any support in their zone. Come on, you must have something better in you sleeves than that. Only guy who matched Sale with eye test was Leonard.
