I disagree here, nobody is just dumb. Babcock had no interest in developing players he was in Cup winning business, he didn't play them enough and benched for mistakes. I don't think being benched is the best possible way how to learn from your mistakes.
Many people are just dumb. Hockey players or otherwise. Yes, Babcock had no use for kids that weren't safe. But Smith didn't get any better in awareness or decision making post-Wings.

Can we somehow get both Benson and Dvorsky? It is not like trading for 3td overall, we just need to move up 6-7 places
Problem is to ensure Dvorsky the #9 probably has to stay where it's at to grab Benson and the #17 has to leapfrog to #6-7 to get Dvorsky. #17 to #6-7 is not cheap.

Indeed, we need to go higher that our current pick... Maybe Wallinder (someone that is comparable to Simashov and has confirmed the potential already) could make it happen? But the again, I'm not sure I'd like to lose him.

Mazur won't do that and I would hate to lose Berggren.

Here’s a 2nd round name we’ve talked about a bit but I think needs more attention.

Anton Wahlberg

Malmo isn’t as good a development program as our usual suspects, but Wings legend Peter Worrel (Andreas Lilja) works there. There are also questions about his skating agility and overall consistency, but I think there’s a lot to work with in this prospect. Profiles as a big, goal scoring winger.

Smith played a live puck with his hand from the bench. That's about as dumb as you can get.

I'm sure he would have done better with a more forgiving coach, but he was and still is low on IQ, both hockey and otherwise.

Interested in hearing who will be the target should Stevie decide to jump back into the 20's and where do two seconds land us? My guess would be for a talented Center that might not make it to the 40's- Edstrom, Stenberg, Sawchyn. Mid to late 20's?

Only really worth it if we had two guys in mind at 17 and want them both. For the players ranked 20-25+ enough will be there at 41 not too worry too much.

Was just thinking... if Dvorak isn't available, the top 8 picks go as expected, and we have a choice between Benson/Danielson/Wood, I'd think we are in prime trade down position. There will be some defense needy teams picking in this range looking to get ahead of a run on D. All of St Louis at 10, Vancouver at 11, and Arizona at 12, maybe even Buf at 13 could be targeting D. 2 or 3 of Benson/Danielson/Wood could be available to us even if we trade back a few picks. We could pick up another 2nd rounder and get some more trade/trade up flexibility while also getting our guy.

If Danielson slips I could see it. Walking away with Benson, Willander, and Danielson in the 1st would be pretty awesome.

Those three and
Danny Nelson at eliteprospects.com.
4 those guys I believe going to be NHL players, reduce quantities, improve qualities

Would be incredible if a Center like Edstrom, Nelson, or Fisker Molgaard fell to us in the second round. Oh man.

Sawchyn and Heidt would be alright for upside swings. I think Heidt’s value took a hit at U18’s…. Could see a scenario where he falls into the 40’s.

That entire Canada team was disaster , , I blame on coaches and managers of the team

Never seen him playing, remember Skouch liked him, small guy with great MHL numbers, just check his father and brothers , all big guys

I think he's a great player, fast and very skilled but even that height of 5'9 seems generous. He's very small. Also, he plays in a weak division in the MHL, hence the excellent production. Despite this, I had him in my final HM list (so in my top 150). He's a super long shot but I think he deserves a late pick (especially if he grows, like you said).

Perfect six-seventh round

CHL import draft candidate?

Wallinder need some time in NHL before we shop him. Put him on the same line with Maata, see what can he does

That's not how it works. The scouting team will want the player they like best and pick the player. They don't have them lumped together equally like you do. Heck, you can see here that people have their preferences.
