Probably more along the lines of: "If we go through the hassle of trading up for you, who do you want us to grab at 17?"

as if 17 wouldn't be involved....

Our Finnish mock now reached those 2nd round triple picks.

I drafted RW Koehn Ziemmer (righty power-forward type), RW Jayden Perron (right-handed playmaker, small guy but imo most skilled guy which was left), and 6'6 G Michal Hrabal (monster goalie).

So far at draft:

9. F Ryan Leonard
17. RD Tom Willander
---------------
41. G Michal Hrabal
42. RW Koehn Ziemmer
43. RW Jayden Perron

Every second year you should take a goalie, Cossa was taken 2021, so it's time again. Yzerman likes those monsters.

Moore at 9 is a very good choice when you think about long playoff run. Larkin, Kasper , Moore, Veleno middle of ice will be very hard to play against and I believe that is what Yzerman is trying to build.

Personally, I think Danielson fits that blueprint more closely than Moore. I don't think Moore is a bad pick at #9 necessarily, but I don't see him as "tough to play against" come playoff time.

Oh no! Edström and Wahlberg were still available. I would have Edström, Wahlberg and Perron package.

Edström was gone at #35 to Hawks but Wahlberg was there. I don't know much of these guys... some late risers?

David Edstrom and Danny Nelson fall in that profile of big, very easy to project 3rd line defensive forward type. He had a great showing at the U18s and some people thought he was even better than Otto Stennberg.

I’ve got them both as late 1st round picks. I can see Edstrom making the NHL in 3 years as a 4th line and PK guy that works his way up to 2nd/3rd line tweener status.

What happened with Stenberg? Wasn't he projected to go top 10 a year ago?

Dream Scenario. Sorry ogee..

9-Benson
17-Perrault
Trade 42+43 for 20-24 ish
24- ASP
41- Edstrom

Berggren Larkin Raymond
Benson Kasper Perrault
Lombardi Edstrom Rasmussen
Soderblom Copp Mazur

Walman Seider
Edvinsson ASP
Wallinder/Johansson

Cossa

would be an incredible framework to work with
Sorry man, I feel like that gets us a team that gets dummied in the playoffs. I just dont have much time for a 5'11 Dman who doesnt skate like a Hughes brother. I love Benson, and can see why people are enticed by Perrault, but getting two undersized guys with those picks would set us up for some struggles when the going gets tough. Especially with Johnny Burgers on the top line.

Honestly, I think my dream draft is closer to what Pronman mocked. Somehow come out of the 1st with Dvorsky and Benson. Then, come out of the 2nd with any combo of Hrabal, Strbak, Fisker Molgaard, Nilsson, Rehkopf, Edstrom, or Dvorak. Hopefully get Andrew Gibson in the 3rd.

That gives us some serious depth in the prospect pool. And keeps our D 6'2"+ and mobile all the way through.

This will also force some interesting choices up front. I hope Lombardi makes it, and I love Berggren, but I cant see our top 9 having 5 guys 5'11 and under in it.

Ah, some how i managed to miss Edström's name. Champions league final was about to start, i blame that for my rush.

Well Ogee already answered and Wahlberg is pretty much like Edström, a bit more physical imo.

Wahlberg’s profile is interesting. Might be a better skater than Edstrom, but plays in a worse developmental system in Malmo. Remember the development powerhouses in Sweden are Rogle and Frolunda with Djurgarden a distant 3rd.

I’d be down to draft Wahlberg, Edstrom and Nilsson with our three 2nd round picks. That covers a lot of organizational needs.

1 year left of his conract, draft him, wait a year, sign him and loan him to Rögle. But that's not necessary a bad thing, Malmö is a bottom tier team. Easier to get more ice time than in Frölunda and Rögle.

Edström is gone before it's Detroit's turn but Wahlberg and Nilsson are realistic, 3rd player would be someone from the USHL most likely.

If Yzerman not sure about Cossa , probably one of our second pic will be ether Hrabal or Trey Augustine

You mean the Kris Draper "hard to play against" pick that we're all gonna hate?

Dylan James, Buium, and Mastrosimone were the previous 2nd round USHL pick. At some point you have to stop making the same mistakes over and over. I'd rather let a monkey with a dartboard choose that pick instead of Draper.

Ya don’t see you complaining about the Mazur pick. Mastro was probably a miss but you don’t know on the other 2 it’s too early to tell

I didn’t like what I read about Trey Augustine. There were some scouting comments about him being “cookie cutter” and nothing special. EP has him higher than Hrabal in the rankings but they talk about Hrabal being a guy that could become a starter. I don’t think they said the same about Augustine.

Also looking at his shot chart Augustine gives up a lot more up high than Hrabal did on their shot charts. When I get a second I’ll take a snip and show them side by side, but Hrabal seems like the superior prospect.

Just bought the Hockey News draft guide and looks like I can have my dream draft. At nine we can have either Reinbacher ranked 9 or Leonard at 13. I’ll take Leonard. At 17 I get Willander who is ranked at 30. In the second I can have Edstrom 59, Wahlberg 66 and Dan Nelson at 98. Really surprised Nelson is that low. I thought Edstrom would be closer to a first rounder. I was hoping for Andrew Gibson at 73 but he is ranked 41. May have to go with Brady Cleveland 75 at that point. All in all it just shows what a lousy scout I am

I just want a minor miracle to make up for our lottery luck and Dvorsky is there at 9.

Bedard, Fantilli, Carlsson, Michkov, Smith, Reinbacher, Leonard.

All we need is an ASP or Simashev or Benson or Moore or Wood to sneak in there ahead of us.

We only see couple of games with particular player, fell in love with him and think that he is the one . In reality outside of u18 Dvorsky didn't do anything to get excited about . Will be interesting to see where Dvorsky on McKenzie list.

He's, IMO, the most interesting center in the draft after the top 3.
