2023 Draft Discussion

Watched a bit of Eduard Sale for the first time, I'd like to hear if anyone has thoughts about him. Seems like a consensus top 15 pick. Decent production in the Extraliga so far.
He's got a high IQ, like I said about Raymond today in another thread the puck seems to follow him. The downside is his passing needs work. He gets the puck often and has the vision to see good passing options but the passes just don't always hit their mark. Overall I think he's got an excellent foundation to build on, he just needs to start building on it.

More sure we will be 16th, the last team out of playoffs.

Win the lottery, get 6th overall.
This makes the most sense based on history lmao

Man this is the worst year to suddenly become good. The top 5-6 of this draft are insane. Bedard, Michkov, Carlsson, Fantilli and Yager.

Its a long season... I hope for a quick tank and drop a few spots the last month of the year if we are clearly out of the playoff picture. Alot of our top 6-9 are tradeable with 1-2 year deals, and Yzerman has a massive amount of cap flexibility coming up. I still would prefer playoffs over anything, but one more high lottery choice would not hurt the future of this team.

And get one of Fantilli, Carlsson, Yager, Stramel, Benson, Dvorsky, Ritchie or Sale.

Honestly, at this point I would be happy with any of these guys but the one I'm most thrilled by is Carlsson. The kid has 10 points in 11 SHL games right now. I once said he was the best Swedish forward prospect since Backstrom. I may change that statement to the best Swedish forward prospect since Forsberg. That kid is going to be an 80+ point center in the NHL.

Someone find me a super intelligent, defensively responsible C who loves to pass first - that will be available between 15-20th;

Willing to give up on height, size, and goals to keep the price reasonable.

We drafted this guy last year in Kasper.

The piece were missing is a top flight elite gamebreaking F. We either get lucky with one of the lower picks becoming that (eg maybe buchelnikov), or draft one of the top 6-7 guys this year for that. Or we build the team like StL and forgo that.

If I had to target just a few things it would be high end offense or physicality. We've got the foundational pieces in place (if things work out). We've got the number 1 dman, 2 top 6 centers if Kasper is good, a potential elite scoring winger, and foundational bottom 6 pieces (Rasmussen, Soderblom). Now we need the fun stuff.

15th to 20th I don't know if that would be available, but super snipers or a power winger might be available then.

Jayden Perron is someone I really like, who might not get they hype he should because he is undersized and on a pretty loaded team.

High end offensive player. Reminds me some of Yurov from last year. Would take him all day.

The 2023 #NHLDraft is legit

Or Raymond eventually reaches that level.

this draft is ridiculous deep when NDN who's steamrolling the sweden's junior league isn't even on this list.
