WC: 2023 Czech Team

Good to get the win vs Slovakia. Totally understand the frustration here around the lack of NHLers, but the team is what it is and we should accept that root for them to succeed. Who knows, with a compact and well-balanced team they could still surprise us. I'm genuinely curious how they'll get on without last year's firepower.

Well Nylander for Sweden... That "other top teams are also weaker this year" Is less and less true every day.

Hard to not be frustrated

It is good for the overall quality of the tournament. Plus, beating a strong opponent is always bigger achievement than beating a mediocre one, isn't it? Good players need to have this challenge-seeking mentality.

Well Sweden has 3X the players to call, so obviously some will come. They had a ton of declines too. It's an universal problem for this tournament.

Exactly. The ratio of Swedes vs. Czechs coming from the NHL to this tournament is following the total number of Swedes vs. Czechs playing in the NHL.

Looks like Kaut is on line 2 with Spacek and Smejkal!

Vozelnich with Cernoch and Flek.

That's from CT24 and not 100%.

Still haven't heard about goalie ... ftr.... Vejmelka against Slovakia and Hrubec today would've made sense.

They said it in advance that all 3 goalies will go into action during the group stage.
 


Not starting Vejmelka for the first 2 games is f***en stupid!

No one f***en rotates 3 goalies in a tournament. Name me one medallling country in the last decade that rotated 3 goalies in the f***en World's?

I am sorry but how anyone with some sense of reason can think that Jordan is good enough to play at WCH and be in national team. We are playing absolutely weak Kazakhstan and even now he cant keep up. All he does is that he always just slaps the puck toward the board or in the corner. Absolutelly useless player

I don't mind him on third pair... But he wouldn't be in my top 12 for D choices.
 
For Latvia... Vlejmelka please.

Zboril in top 4.
Knot with more minutes.
Chytil healthy.
Smejak healthier
Chlapik back.
Sedlak deserves a top 6 spot.

Both Chytil and Chlapík to miss the Latvia game, "hopefully just this one game", the coaches say. Looks like Chytil's injury is not so serious but it is reportedly very painful. They have 2 days break Tuesday-Wednesday, so hopefully both guys will be ok for the next games.

I can't possibly think of anything what can be that "bad" that he couldnt play

Gum injuries can be painful as hell. The player can't properly focus on his game in such case. He would have to be under very strong painkillers and that's not good either.
 
Hrubec in net for tonight :DDDD It will be a very tough game. Important for us if we win we are basically in qf already ... and we start Hrubec, who almost lost us the game against Slovaks.


What are the guys smoking in there?
