I was sitting opposite Karel Gut in front of my beer while Jagr was shouting “Ty volleeeee!” into my ear. The atmosphere is simply not describable. And I can obviously not be objective - anything Hlinka had decided personell-wise was in retrospect genius of course. The victors do write history. So I am sure a lot of the 1998 critics had valid points, but I don’t give a 💩
You have an experience like no other! Very jealous to be honest.. I went to the Nagano Pub across from Staropramen in Prague and was expecting some nostalgia. One nagano poster.lol

It was empirically proven too many times
I missed this? Can you do it one more time for me please?

I listed a tonne of guys yesterday that went from Euro stars and important players for us to the AHL. Also a lot of guys that came back from AHL and became stars from us.

Eg. Kovar, Jiricek, Kundratek, Spacek, Klok, Knot and Blumel.

Nice example how much better is AHL than Extraliga is Peter Mueller. He was not good for NHL, he was average AHLer (0,44ppg in Providence Bruins) and he is absolutely top player in Extraliga (1,15ppg)

He isn't and it was fully shown in the Play offs when he was completely invisible. But otherwise, I have nothing against AHL players.

1) WCH 2010: Czechia won, 3 NHL guys. 2019: Finland won, 1 NHL guy (I believe). 2022, Finland won, 3 NHL guys or so. In both 2019 and 2022, Finland won vs. Canada with full NHL roster in the Gold Medal game.

2) AHL is a specific league which is often drastically overestimated in Europe. Notably, the teams are usually playing a very fast but intuitive hockey with little tactics. This is why a player's success in this league doesn't guarantee he would be capable of playing a tactically more developed game, and vice versa.

Got it.. you are referring to Finland Euros. My bad. I was talking about Czech Euros and specifically extraliga ones.

2010 is 13 years ago now. Not one person expected that. Our teams have been majority Euros since then... 1 bronze in the last decade. And our all Euro Olympic teams also didn't medal.

He used to be a very average Extraliga player, but was improving dramatically through this season. At the end he was deservedly awarded as the MVP of the Play-Offs.
Voženilek was dominant from the beginning of the season. I know what I'm talking about, I've seen every one of his home games:nod:

2018 and 2022 Olympics are not relevant in this because all teams were purely European. For example, the 2013 team featured quite a lot of NHL players and was performing poorly. It is not about the numbers of players from this or that league, but about the team working well together. Of course the players need to have certain level of individual quality. But it is not like that any NHL (never say AHL) guy should be automatically prioritized over any guys from a European league just because he is playing in the North America. Collective sports don't work like that, this is no cross country skiing relay where the strength of the team basically equals the sum of the members' individual performances.

The Olympics with euros on euros demonstrated how weak our Euros are.

My argument is that our North American Czechs are better than our Euro Czechs. I stand by it. If I were to list who I thought the best 30 Czechs in hockey were... Maybe 5 would be from Europe.

But I totally agree that a collective group is necessary to win.

This.

Re: BigBadBoar: He is right that not every player joining the NT from the NHL automatically fits in / is better than the Extraliga players but come on! They pretty much always make our Euro team a lot stronger. Imagine last year’s bronz medal winners without Pastrnak and Krejci (OK, Krejci had his year out enjoying the downtime if Extraliga, but is basically an NHLer).

Kulich and Rousek are solved. Rochester advanced to next round 😂 Kulich with another goal today 👍😉
I hope for a super czech team next year (at home) 😂

Strange looking lineup. Curious how this goes... Swiss always give us close and very frustrating matches.

Beranek with 5 and a game. Curious if that messes up his chances of making the team?

Vozelnik is a board monster... great on the wall.

But 5+20? I understand it was dirty to do this in a preparation game, but still...
It's a tough call... generally speaking, if they were consistent with that kind of call then I'd be fine with it. Feel bad for Beranek. At home, trying out, probably last chance to make squad.

Good PK practice.lol

I still don't think those are real Skodas btw... asked me son and he thinks holograms.lol

Everytime I see Flek.lol He always gets greta chances. So much fun to watch. Never finishes. He needs to train this summer with snipers and work on his 'koncovky'.. he'd be elite if he could finish half his chances.

Worried Kaut won't make it ftr.

And deservedly so, he's been completely invisible since he joined the team.

I see my Kaut enthusiasm is not shared.lol

I'd love to clip a video or two or a statline to prove you 2 wrong...

but

There is not highlight video or stat line.lol

I've been spoiled bing an Oiler fan.. I no longer know what a normal powerplay looks like with 2 units.lol

That looked 'meh' to me.

I Will repeat myself and probably will repeat myself again many times

Its scary how weak our D is lol. Sometimes it looks like they completely can't handle the speed and tempo of the game.

Thanks to Karel Its still 1:1.Swiss outplayed us big time.

Jiříček out.
The defense will be weak. Even weaker than we thought it would be..
