1st + good prospect + decent roster player

The kind of price you pay if you re-up him but never in a million years pay for a rental.
And the only way you can resign him is if you trade Girard to free up 5 mill, and you still have to add at least 3 mill to that. With Tatar and Drouin gone next year, that’s 2 mill available there. If they can somehow get out of the last year of RyJo contract, they can resign Lindholm for sure. The cap is going up 4 mill next year. They do have to trade G for sure. Of course everything will change if Landy is back, then i don’t even think you can resign Lindholm

I mean I agree, but we don't have to move RyJos cap out to make it happen either. Not this year at least. He would have to go in the summer but that's a lot easier to do and less expensive by that point.

We've got some LTIR space and with deadline rentals the 50% retention makes them easy to fit in.

IE with Lindholm all we would need is $2.4M in space. Which we basically have with Frank on LTIR.

I'll just trust you on this, my days of fkn with cap numbers are long over.

If there is room cap wise they need to empty the clip on a solution that being Lindholm or whatever.

I tried like hell to be optimistic about Ryjo, but him not working knee caps the entire season IMO.

Lindholm: + 9M

Total added: 19.15M

Cap raise 4M
Drouin gone: 825k
Tatar gone: 1.5M

Extra cap space: 11.3M

Nah, this season it's only going to take a 1st + prospect given Lindholm's play. Perhaps another pick in the 3rd/4th range.

Unless the player is as useless as Beauvillier, then sure.

So it won’t work. They’ll be about 13 mill over the cap. No one else is coming off the books next year that I know of. But isn’t it 19 added and not 24?

I'm half tempted to say they need to put everything on the table outside of our top pair, and Mack, and completely restructure the roster, but it's a long way between now and the end of the season/playoffs.

Yes I fixed it....if you replace RyJo with Kovalenko you gain roughly 3M more. If Landy doesn't come back and we can get rid of RyJo it's doable.

The biggest issue by far would be trading Girard with his contract and all the uncertainty around him.

This is why I think the next long run this team will have is in 2 years when RyJo is gone, 4 mill free up there, and cap will go up even more. Will have to give Mikko about a 2 mill raise in 2 years and that’s about it. Everyone else is signed. They can find a legit 2C and build a solid 2nd line then. Also hopefully Landy is back near 100% in couple of years

Girard should come back at some point and hopefully he’s over those issues, there will be a lot of teams who would want him. He’s still a very good player signed to a decent contract

He's not tradable unless he comes back this season and performs well.

Seems like you're not understanding that just because a player isn't in the rumor mill, doesn't mean they're untouchable. You build an enticing package and there's very few guys in the league legitimately untouchable.
Didnt we just go through this? Guys with good contracts, that are producing that aren’t distractions don’t get moved. Feel free to give me examples. You say I don’t understand, I do. I I don’t even think Colorado has the assets to make it happen that we won’t need for the playoffs. It’d take something ridiculous. “Were” talking about Ritchie, 1st whatever was said. For lindholm, who is set to be a UFA. Is older and isn’t producing well in Calgary this year, weren’t you also one of the people everyday this offseason talking about Tatar, I’ll have to go back and look

To be fair, he advocated for signing Trochek at the time.

He wasn’t an option, he only wanted to stay in the east.

Perhaps. But assuming value was part of the consideration, it was a decent idea. If you’re going to play the ad hominem game, you should focus on the good as well as the bad.

Personally, was hoping they’d sign Danault at the time.
