Oh I'm well aware he's not trading and am certainly not setting myself up for disappointment.

But the likes of Lindholm are certainly available. No excuses to not be involved in a player like that at this point.
With all due respect, I don’t see why you bring up his name. 2 years ago ok. That ship sailed when he was re-signed. This place is an echo chamber and people will end up legitimately pissed off we couldn’t get him. Landholm, sure. Nelson, is old. Most likely is traded next year if he’s not re-upped NYI is third in their division
currently. Zegras is interesting. He just re-upped he has a lot of runway before he would be dealt. Anaheim has a pretty good stable of young high end dmen. Anaheim would be pretty dumb to trade him at this point. You’re probably looking at Henrique from Anaheim.

A very good 2c probably eliminates the need to gather up another wing… but if they get a guy like Henrique/Monahan/etc, they’ll still need a guy who can beat goalies with their shot with consistency.
I remember you saying dollar in dollar out. Do we even have the assets, cap space to bring in 2 2nd liners?

Seems like you're not understanding that just because a player isn't in the rumor mill, doesn't mean they're untouchable. You build an enticing package and there's very few guys in the league legitimately untouchable.

Avs would probably have to sell the farm, but anything can be figured out with enough motivation. It wouldn’t fit the Avs MO.

This is the problem, the need is obvious, but the how is very much less so between assets and the cap.

As it stands I can only imagine the level of Tetris it would take just to fit Lindholm here even if the trade price was agreed upon.

They have the assets to pull it off and cap space can always be created.

It's simply a question of whether our management is motivated to make the necessary moves and so far it would certainly look like they are not.

Lindholm wouldn't be a hard fit at all.

I really don't think the Avs need another winger, if they get a legit 2C:

Lehky - Mack - Drouin*
Nuke - 2C - Mikko
Wood - Colton - LOC*
Cogs - Olofsson - Kiviranta

Keep in mind there's a decent chance Kovalenko ends up taking the 3rd line RW slot and bumping LOC down. And then at least as of right now Drouin loses his spot to Landy. Which then gives you Kiviranta as injury replacement #1 in the bottom 6, Drouin as injury replacement #1 in the Top 6.

Also keep in mind we may not even move RyJo in a trade this year so then he could be another extra body option as well.

The 2C has absolutely got to be solved, but I really think if you fix that with an actual solution(Like JEE, Lindholm, Nelson, Zegras, etc) and not another bandaid, you've got a plenty deep forward group that can win it all.

But right now the 2C hole is killing us because it has literally everyone else on the team playing roles and minutes they simply aren't capable of sustaining or doing well in.

Obviously we won't know for sure what the situation is with Landy until much closer to the deadline but I think until we hear otherwise they probably should operate under the assumption that he'll be back and thus focus all of our attention on the 2C slot.
They cant just healthy scratch a 4 million dollar player. What a waste that would be

Not true, unless they do go after someone like JEE. Although even JEE, I haven't ran the numbers but I'd guess Tatar would be pretty close to being enough going out.
Well they gonna need a meaningful upgrade at 2C, otherwise what’s the point of getting another RyJo? They gonna need a Lindholm or someone like that, a sure thing that you know is gonna come in and do the job as a 2C. Can’t keep experimenting with unknown. JEE would be nice but is he on the market?

I mean I agree, but we don't have to move RyJos cap out to make it happen either. Not this year at least. He would have to go in the summer but that's a lot easier to do and less expensive by that point.

We've got some LTIR space and with deadline rentals the 50% retention makes them easy to fit in.

IE with Lindholm all we would need is $2.4M in space. Which we basically have with Frank on LTIR.

Do have to give up a lot for Lindholm if you gonna have Calgary retaining 50%

As much as it sucks, the Avalanche preach patience and hardly ever make big moves save for 2022.

Right or wrong, this is the team until the TDL for sure outside of a random waiver claim.
Girard going into rehab killed any hope for a decent in-season hockey trade anyway. It was either him or Byram going the other way and now neither can be traded.
