IMO there was a lot more going on at the last TDL we are let to believe that contributed in them making the Ellers move only. There was obviously the Landy uncertainty but I think they were also very much concerned on the availability/effectiveness of Nuke, Makar and Manson heading into the playoffs. I think overall they were looking at the playoffs as a much bigger long shot than we did because of all the injuries (and most importantly the type of injuries) they were dealing with at the TDL. Nuke was missing games and when he was playing he was in pain and it was obvious watching him on the ice he was not himself. And we all knew Makar was fighting something also. Again IMO they thought it wasn't worth risking all the assets needed to put the team in a position to have a chance to win it all. Doing so though it is also my opinion that it affected the rest of the team negatively mentally as seeing them giving up on that season and not trusting them to do it.

This is all speculation on my part obviously. We, as fans, need to remember we don't have all the info not only regarding team health but also what players were available and the price for those players. We also have to remember a lot of players do not want to come to the West conference let alone Colorado which is the team with the most travelling. Players being available does not mean they are an option for COL. Other teams tend to also demand more from top contending team for return in trades.

Most fans always think it is easier to make moves than it is in reality.
So why waste a 2nd on Eller? If you don't believe they can make a run then just pack it in and don't waste assets that could be used over the summer. Half assing it is worse than not believing the team could do it. Half-measures don't ever work. Pick one

Complete head case... talented one, but a headcase. In the right situation, he's a guy who can put the pucks in the net and has a shot that can beat goalies from range. Which is a huge need on this team, is he worth the headache?

Get him on the team. This guy can score.

I get what you are saying and it is a bit of a head scartcher. IMO it was to give them help in case everything was going to work out by the playoffs. By that I mean Landy coming back, and Makar and Nuke becoming more healthy. This way they help the team if needed but they don't mortgage the future if things don't improve. Like I said it is speculation but there has to be a reason for making that deal. And I think the reason was they had a lot of concerned about wasted a lot of very good assets on a very long shot at winning.

Yea there’s something very wrong with Vrana for sure. He was doing good when he got in STL.

Let it snow let it snow let it snow ….
I know it’s tempting to get any help we can but due to recent events its best to stay away from players with substance issues.

I’m curious as to what happened between last season and this one. He came in and was a force for STL after the trade but has since disappeared. Fair or not it’s hard not to think he’s run into some off-ice issues once again.

I’d say no, he’s not worth the headache, but the Avs desperately need scorers.

LMAO!!!

So it seems the same bloke who mentioned earlier in the season that Tatar was signing with a Western Conference "contender," just mentioned that Avs are in for Eriksson Ek. Now that would cost a lot, I am not sure why the Wild would trade him even if they decided to rebuild for the next two seasons (his contract is too good). To me, it appears more likely he fits the Avs mould, but he is someone they probably won't get.

There's only 2 players on the roster I wouldn't trade for JEE honestly... Maybe 3.

I'd be shocked to hell if the Wylde really were ready to move on from JEE but if he's up for grabs the Avs damn well better be on the phone pushing HARD.

I am not even getting excited about that rumor regarding JEE. First I would be extremely surprised if he was on the block. No reason whatsoever for the Wild to trade him. Second even if he was there is no way the Wild trade him to us. We would have to pay a big premium on top of their ask to get him here.

I do agree he would be perfect here.
