I'm not sold on Anaheim wanting Byram... they have Minty who looks better than Byram on their left side. They have a couple more years of Fowler on the left and he's still looking good (and a great guy to help along Drysdale). Then a plethora of depth guys ranging from high end offensive guys to shutdown defensive types.

He's much more likely to play the way Bednar wants than Johansen currently is.

Obviously you want the 2C but after last year I’ll settle for anything that can help the 2nd line. I feel like we shot down so many names that would have helped against Seattle.

Don’t have much confidence anything big happens. Really wish those 1st round picks were used for a better 2C than RyJo or even a solid roster player that could be helping right now.

Pretty sure his game is nothing like Tatar's.

Whether his attitude issues are blown out of proportion or not I'd take a chance on a guy like that. Thing is, the Avs have far greater needs than a scoring winger right now.

There's a reason he's moving from team to team all the time...heck he doesn't even have an agent anymore and he negotiates his own contracts like Ovi. In his case he's more like those people who show up to court with no lawyer because they think highly of themselves.

I'm not gonna sit here and say he's a model citizen, but I also think he receives far more scrutiny than others for one very obvious reason, which I'm sure you and a few others on here will disagree with.

Again, he's a talented, but problematic player who could be had on the cheap. But the argument is kinda moot because he doesn't address the Avs' biggest need at present unless he's a center in waiting.

I disagree indeed but whatever. I used to want him and I was very surprised when he got traded from NY early in his career. He was kicking ass as an 18 year old.

Duke is a local boy who played for the Quebec Remparts, I honestly used to like him a lot. He obviously took the wrong path but in the end he still has decent career for a 3rd rounder.

If we are talking RD that would fit like a glove here and improve the team, he should be at the top of the list. Would be ideal to pair with Byram while G can be with Manson. It would be a huge luxury and shouldn't take precedence over fixing the 2nd line... but god he'd be an ideal fit.

Have had Walker at the top of my RD wishlist all year.


IMO you get him, you can trade both of Girard and Manson in the summer.

Walker probably gets similar money to Manson, but maybe if you stretch it out to a 6-7 year deal you could get him for $4M instead.

Feels like it honestly. I'm not s big baseball guy like I am hockey but some of my buddies like haseball more at this point and they've literally been stalking flightaware all day. They're going to be devastated if he ends up signing in LA

I’ve mentioned it before but a Walker and Frost package from the Flyers would be a perfect fit. Frost isn’t a surefire 2C replacement by any means, but he’d be a lot better fit on this team than RyJo.

My fear with Frost is much like Jost and Newhook... his skating/size combo leaves so much to be desired and I don't think the IQ can overcome it. He showed a flash last year, but he's looked bad more often than not in the NHL.

Yeah it hasn’t been great at the NHL level for him with the exception of last year. I share your opinion that he’s similar to Jost and Newhook in his skating and that it could keep him from breaking out at this level.

I guess the question becomes; is it worth acquiring a player like him just to try it out or would it be best to do nothing, keep your assets and hope for the best with RyJo?

I don't think it is really an either/or. My feeling is use the assets elsewhere if RyJo doesn't show signs of improving my Jan/Feb. Frost would be on my list, just further down.

I don't know about the attitude issues folks are talking about, but he hasn't looked the same since he did his Achilles. Doesn't have the same burst.
