Doughty is old guys, turns 34 in a couple of weeks, beein in the NHL since he ws 18. Old with a ton of mileage both in career games and career TOI, also I'm not sure he won the genetics lottery. He probably won't finish up like Pronger, Lidstrom, Chelios and Niedermayer.

The Kings need to limit his icetime and put him in situations where he can thrive, playing 33 minutes and just automatically being pencilled into the PP1 is to much to ask for now.

Drew and Anze have creative control clauses in their contracts.

You can’t win in the playoffs with a guy like that playing the most minutes. He’s going to get consistently clowned when facing the top players. I don’t care about his spreadsheet stats piled up over 82 games, where 1/2 are mostly meaningless.

I was thinking about this today, he's been here so damn long, where was everyone in their life when Kopitar debuted with the Kings vs. now? Some people grew from being kids to adulthood, some became middle aged to seniors, some went from drunk college kids to sailing past 40.

Still remember that first game vs. Anaheim and knew right away that he was going to be our Fedorov, Modano, Forsberg that I was always jealous the Kings never had. I was living in NYC just out of college, working insane hours doing something I hated. Since then lived in 4 different states, 5 different cities, 4 different jobs, had a kid, got married, got divorced, now semi-retired. For me Kopitar on this team was basically a constant in my entire adult life.

I was 14 and brand new to these boards. Crazy. Yup, I was at dinner and watched him undress Pronger. What a good feeling that was.
