Why not? The ducks are at a point in the rebuild where they might as well try something. Obviously things change if they get Celebrini
This'd be crazy, actually. I'd be for it
Pat and Killorn would have to get creative to convince Stamkos tho

I like that defense…. I still don’t see Stamkos as realistic but I think there are plenty of solid forward options available.

The Ducks are at a point of the rebuild where they should care about mentality. It is a culture game. You need the ones with the desire to win without destroying the team spirit.

I think Roy brings a good mentality/culture…. And a good compliment to what our young guys being.

Stamkos comes from the same winning culture as killorn… but idk that I really love the fit

Definitely need a Top 6 winger, not another Strome but a legit 60+ point, 30 goal scorer. Glad Verbeek sees this need also.

With Leo and Z healthy, and the addition of Gauthier it will push down players to a 3rd line and can have three scoring lines. Although I still think Gauthier starts on a 3rd line till he feels more comfortable on the NHL level.

PP needs to be totally redone next season, and it starts with a new PP coach.

Having zegras carlsson zellweger and Minyukov healthy and in line up should help a ton on power play.

I’d trade for necas/kakko/ kuzmenko or buchnevic if any are available, and do what we can to sign Roy.

Our PK has fallen hard since the beginning of the season, like a top-11/15 team. We are now ranked 27th. We have given up the most PK goals against in the whole league. Did other teams figure us out or is it personnel wearing down?

Makes sense. He reminds me of Manson..
I think he’ll prob get offered 7 years at 5-6 mil. He just turned 29, I want him as more of a stop gap

But I wonder if he’d sign 5 year 32.5 to stay in socal. Can’t see us doing 7 years on him

Yea and kings prob won’t resign him as they have a bunch of rhd Spence, doughty, Clarke

Roy is a good option for us, but I don't think he would want a stopgap contract (1-3 years) from a rebuild team.

Roy is part of the Kings' PK1 unit, leads the team in blocks and 2nd on the team in hits. Spence is 23 years old and as tall as Zell. It feels as though Spence might be the stopgap for 6'2 Clarke, who's with the AHL club. I don't think either Spence nor Clarke are PK specialists.

Aside from needing a couple of goalies under contract next year and RFA signings, there's about $22.55 mil available in cap next year for the Kings. I'd like to believe the Kings would like to retain Roy's services to stay in the playoff mode, of course, if the price is right.

Possibly, most king fans seem to think they will move on from him. Have to find 2 goalies (1 starter)…. Portillo might be 1b option to save a bit of money .

Have to sign byfield…. I imagine he’ll get 7.5+ long term

20 mil + I think 8 spots to fill(1 bring byfield that’s going take about 30-40% of that space). turcotte prob cheap to bring back. It’ll be interesting to see what they decide…. If you bring back byfield + Roy, you’re left with 6-8 million to fill 6 spots, including starting goalie position. It’s def possible but also a bit risky, maybe you bridge QB but I think that cost you big long term(but maybe not an issue with cap increasing and kopitar eventually dropping out

I don't see $7.5 mil AAV for Byfield. Out of his three seasons in the NHL and a season in the AHL, Byfield didn't breakout until this season - his third season in the NHL, fourth season as a pro. He's not even leading his team in scoring like Zegras did in his third season in the NHL. Zegras scored over 60 points for two consecutive seasons.

Also, Doughty will be 35 years old next year. The Kings will be gambling with fire with two young RDs in Spence (23) and Clarke (21), which neither is are PK'ers. Maybe they'll do a Ducks' thing and play a LD at RD?

Possibly, I’m more or less going off what kings fans are predicting.

No issue with Roy, I think he would fit really well. I just have no interest in going longer then 5 years. I would rather slightly overpay for 5 years then go 6 or 7.
I think all of agree on that aspect…. He’s prob best fit of potentially available dmen within reason.

If we can’t get him I’d prob go for joker from Buffalo

I'm so curious what he and Pesce get in free agency. In recent years we really haven't seen a whole lot of dmen get more than 5 years outside of the top guys (Hamilton and Pietrangelo). The most I could see him getting is around 6x6, but that would still surprise me. While he isn't a black hole offensively, he doesn't put up the points that would warrant a huge contract. He should wind up much closer to Manson's deal than Hamilton's.

I expect him to get a Lindholm contract or more. Pesce would be a PERFECT fit for the Ducks, but someone is going to overpay him like Edmonton IMO. I view him in the same category as Roy. 5 years would be fine.
