I feel like the call's gonna be for Nesterenko since Regenda and Perreault are both hurt ATM, but Tracey's a PPG in his last 11 after a dreadful start, so I'd feel like it'd be a cool reward to see him debut and get a little time up here.
Yeah Tracey is who I want to see but I could see them going with a vet in De Leo, Agozzino, or Gawdin

Who do you call up for Zegras?

Option 1:
I wonder with the Drysdale trade, does that give way to keep Luneau with the NHL club. We stay at 13F with 8D, Hagg rides the pine and Luneau is under medical watch. Once Luneau is better, then Hagg goes back down to San Diego. If Luneau is kept with the Ducks, then our medical staff can watch over him closely for the rest of the season.

This would promote Leason into the top-6 as a LW for the time being and we wait for Carlsson to return.

Option 2:
Although, I do like the prospect of seeing Tracey up in the NHL on a longer burn, as others have mentioned. He's been playing on the third line with Gaucher and Caulfield, throwing some of his weight around from time to time. I recall last year he took on the role of being the pest since they didn't have any on the roster.

It's generally against my nature to post Crash the Pond-related items, but I thought this was relevant to share

Killer is an actual 2nd line wing in the league. Where strome and Vatrano are 3rd line wingers who Big Mac has elevated into looking like fringe 2nd liners. I hope killer and Big Mac stay attached at the hip.

I was thrilled to see Cronin keeping Killer on the 2nd line and bumping Strome to the 3rd. He seems really set on Vatrano-Mac-Strome so glad to see some adjustments, which I think have worked really well.

With the injury to Zegras, I wouldn't be surprise to see Henrique - Strome - Terry next game, which would keep the Killorn-Mac-Vatrano line together.

Didn't we have Killorn pegged to play 2LW next to Mac before the season started, provided Z was signed?

Z-Carlsson-Terry
Rico-Mac-Killorn
Vatrano-Groulx-Strome
Leason-Carrick-Silf

or something like that?

I don't want Strome at center at all. He's a much better winger than center. Let Rico play top-6C and have Strome play on his off-side.

Strome-Rico-Terry
Killorn-Mac-Vatrano

Now, if we're keeping players on their natural shooting side....

Vatrano-Rico-Terry
Killorn-Mac-Strome

... but I feel all the grit is on the Mac line and the finesse is on the Rico line. Which means option 3?

Killorn-Rico-Terry
Vatrano-Mac-Leason
McGinn-Lundy-Strome
Johnston/Groulx-Carrick-Silf

Killorn is top 6 now because of injuries but he's shot. He has hands but his feet fail him constantly.

Killorn has been inconsistent. You see the mind, the thought process, and knows where to go, but sometimes his body isn't responding as fast as his mind.

for some reason, when I read your comment, the song Lose Yourself popped into my head.

Next season it's safe to assume the top 6 as some combination of:

Gauthier-Carlsson-Terry
Killorn-McTavish-Zegras

For the bottom 6, players such as Leason, Carrick, and Lundestrom all seem like obvious re-signs and fill in 3 of those spots. All of the other should be let go besides Vatrano and Strome IMO. I would look for a 3rd line center in UFA short-term.

Vatrano-xxx-Strome
Carrick-Lundestrom-Leason

On defense, it seems like Fowler, LaCombe, Mintyukov, Luneau, and Gudas are locks. Gudas is a short-term solution and Luneau is a rookie. Any player drafted on defense will be at least 2 years away from truly contributing. It seems clear a top 4 defenseman is needed going forward. Maybe they can use the assets they get for Henrique and/or Lyubushkin to trade for a defenseman in the summer.

Fowler-Gudas
Mintyukov-xxx
LaCombe-Luneau

This is a decent forward lineup, IMO. On the boueline, Gudas is not capable to play Fowler minutes. Luneau should be there.

Here it is. The half mark of the season.

We're bottom 3 by points %. And with Zegras and Minty out, as well as Drysdale shipped away for no immediate help, I guess we can forget about playoffs  The season's success should be measured by if all the players can get back healthy and avoid re-inuring themselves.

I'm gonna watch closely the top 5 prospects for the upcoming draft

He is certainly not “shot”. He is a perfectly solid Vet who can play 2nd or 3rd line and be fine.
Its a young man's game and he's molasses slow. If we want to take a leap in the next year and be a playoff team, he has to play with unbelievably fast linemates or be relegated to 3rd line

By the time we’re competing, he likely will be one the third line. He was brought in as a vet presence, and as of late he’s looked decent enough in the role he’s in. Let’s not forget he’s playing next to Mac who has honestly looked like shit for the last 10-15 games

Agreed with the top-6. Dumbfounded on why Lundy is a 4C instead of our 3C. Vatrano is a the scorer (like Comtois in 2020), Strome is the floating playmaker (like Rakell in 2020), and Lundy does all the defense and heavy work with great speed (like Lundy in 2020).

As for defense, I think the team sticks with vet-youth/rookie pairing. We're still very young on the blue line, especially with Luneau playing only 7 NHL games and Minty's development stall due to a separated shoulder. We're waiting on all our youths to mature at the NHL and AHL levels.
