I Imagine they could have gotten Zegras in the Gauthier deal if they really coveted him.
Oh, how modern. This team's usual MO is to try and win the 1976 Stanley Cup.Torts is hard at work trying to win the 2004 Cup again. He has no conception that 20 years have passed and the game has changed.
He needs the horse to kick him in the head again but harder, much, much harder.
12 years ago today the Flyers won their last, non-bubble playoff series
Zegras gets brought here and one of two things happens. Torts head explodes or Zegras gets all the skill whipped out of him by our wonderful coaching staff.Farabee has gone missing at the end of the year 2 years in a row. Last season was understandable, what happened this year?
Briere seems high on Zegras. I wonder if a straight swap makes sense. As long as Chychrun isn't on the cards, dude has more injuries than Drysdale.
100% Zegras becomes a vanilla no skill allowed grinder.Zegras gets brought here and one of two things happens. Torts head explodes or Zegras gets all the skill whipped out of him by our wonderful coaching staff.
That first shift would go down right as the movie script played out. First opposing player touched a few fans get started cheering then with each next hit it's more and more rabid with the authentics.Looking ahead to the draft, I hear Torts has been heavily scouting these guys

When the Rangers won in 94 I remember thinking how crazy it was that it had been 54 years since their last Cup.It was #darkesttimeline the minute you ssid the Rangers win the Cup

Next year is 50 years since the Flyers' last Cup.

Sadly, the story was written by Stephen King"Storied Franchise"
You would think they would want some space they could weaponize but alas it's the same old same old.still kinda stunned a supposedly(they are not) rebuilding team is that close to the cap
Honestly makes sense given that Briere’s last gig was with a team from Maine.Sadly, the story was written by Stephen King
There are ways to do it without using a buyout or retention. Contracts that last next year only?????They did already weaponize cap space in the Petersen and Johansen trades. Now they're basically out of space till those guys (and the Angelo buyout) come off in 2025-26.
Buyouts
- Anthony Deangelo: $1,666,667
- Ilya Bryzgalov: $0
Retained Salary Transactions
- Kevin Hayes: $3,571,428 (50%)
Buried
- Cal Petersen: $3,850,000 ($5,000,000)
