I think he knows exactly what's going on. Johansen was a cap and personality dump, Briere made it clear he would not play for the Flyers. He was assigned to LHV. And then he suddenly suffers a career-ending injury to his ego.

The end.

Exactly. This is Brière saying "we don't give a rat's ass about Johansen, please stop asking" in as polite a manner as he can muster.

I just don't want the team to carry around corpses like we have been for the last 9 years. Lehtera, Thompson, Atkinson, Johnson, Staal, Yandle, etc...

Fun Fact: Simmonds, Hayes and Yandle are the career leaders in Minus all time for the Flyers.

:skeptic:

Briere wasn't as sure about the future of forward Ryan Johansen, who was acquired in a trade with the Colorado Avalanche on March 6 but hasn’t played for Philadelphia because of a hip injury.

"He's going through some kind of rehab," Briere said. "He had an injection, claims he has a hip injury. At this point, honestly I'm not too sure where it's at. We're not sure if he's going to need surgery, or if he's going to be ready for camp. We don't really know at this point."

Briere may as well have said "Who?" to achieve the same level of dismissiveness and ignorance with a single syllable.

EDIT: What @Larry44 said.

It's so comforting to know that the Flyers' marketing strategy is predominantly on Michkov and Deslauriers. I'm surprised they haven't arranged for them both to be seen at Phillies' games or other events.

The NHL channel on Sirius radio has been running down their predictions for each division for the upcoming season. My read for the Flyers is that they’ll end up about the same place as last year. Maybe a bit worse if the goaltending crashes. However barring that and some crucial injuries, there are some really bad clubs in the West to have to fall behind. It’s going to be hards to get into the top eight or so for next year’s draft.
