Are we just spitballing here based on the conflict with Farabee/his agent last season, (somewhat reduced ice time of late?) or is there something substantive here? He hasn’t been scratched a single time this season.

It’s so damn depressing. This team just keeps running on the treadmill to nowhere. They obsess over balls and culture as the game just passes them by.

They will be awful next season and, if they had an actual owner who gave a shit, that would give me hope that sweeping changes would occur. But who are we kidding? As long as they can keep selling Gritty dolls and the authentics keep buying tickets, Hilferty’s masters will be pleased. Can’t wait for the April 2025 press conference announcing Torts as a new senior advisor and welcoming Brad Shaw as the new HC.

We are in hell.
^^^ this is our future...

If you are trading TK I think he should be used to get a top line Center. Don’t think they can land one in free agency
I agree but also could be done indirectly. The assets they get for him could then be flipped.

Seems like every couple of years, an elite under 25 player becomes availabel. Eichel and Tkachuk are the latest examples. Flyers should be locked n loaded for the next time a player like that is out there...but they need to start selling off pieces to make sure they have the right assets to make a competative offer.

Brian Roberts did not get to be the head of Comcast by being a fool. With Comcast Spectacor looking at dropping $2.5 billion on improvements in the south Philly sports complex, having a lousy hockey team there can't be in the cards. At this point he has to realize that better leadership of the Flyers is requisite in order for this investment to be successful.

There was a comment by ASF I think last year, or by Charlie actually - that said Comcast was basically scared to upset a lot of the old guard/alumni.

After the backlash from just missing Snider’s birthday, and how Camillo was demonized for seemingly trying to move things away a little bit from those men…

Comcast is the problem with the Flyers. Unfortunately I do think that’s a primary issue. They have deep pockets but a boat load of money without knowing how to properly spend it means nothing.

Snider died in 2016, and while I think he’s a direct reason for this country club bullshit, it’s been a free fall since.

Comcast isn’t willing to stand up to the old guard. Scott, and Hilferty grovel at the altar of the alumni.

we arent kidding when we say nothing will ever change so long as the oldbois club exists...

Charlie and Kelly were arguing with Bill on their podcast this week about how you cant look at the problems over last 10 years as all the same bc theres been so much turn over.

I disagree. New coaches, GMs, presidents, and players... yes. What has stayed yhe same? The core philosophy with how to build a team.

Until the Flyers stop overvaluing and prioritizing bottom of the line up/role player type guys and the importance they think those players bring...theyll never be able to construct a winning roster in the cap era.

Thats what needs to change.

The last time they had a GM who wasn't from the Bob Clarke managerial school was the guy who replaced him when he got fired in 1990. From May 15th 1984 to April 9th 1990; and then from June 15th 1994 through to today, this franchise has always had a Clarke disciple or a disciple of a Clarke disciple at the helm.

Of course they overlooked the elements that remain the same
