Ever since that chart was posted I keep thinking of a lineup based on pace of play
Cates cooter Foerster
Tippet poehling TK
Farabee frost brink

The Flyers have been one of the most boring, and slowest teams for a decade +. They openly boast about how skating can be improved with what’s seemingly a good amount of their draft picks.

I’m sure thrilled they’ve all got the hockey IQ to make up for it. Chess championship banner raising will be epic.

Flyers are 10th in the NHL in 22+ MPH skating bursts, per NHL edge.

They've been in the top 5 in the NHL in scoring chances off the rush all season, as of a week ago.

Well, saying they won't be built with 3-4 high end guys like Colorado is in the Flyers Hall of Fame of dumb arrogant quotes. That quote will make a heartfelt speech during a pregame ceremony 15 years from now.

No, he isn't saying that's all they need. But he alluded to not picking that high again, despite the highest selected player (who wasn't even elite) saying he'll never play for the Flyers. And importantly, he isn't outlining any sort of path other than using prayer beads. They don't even desire to spend money on elite talent, with that arbitrary $12MM line, which means diddly-squat as the cap grows.
Agree with this 100%.

They are far away from cup contending. Stuck in neutral at best. Having a coach who is in win now mode doesn't help at all. Having your farm team not having a top up and coming coach is also a huge failure. They do not even play the same system. That is mind boggling to me.

Any thoughts on Drysdale? Early though I am not sold he will be this top pair defensemen.

After re-reading that yeah that is silly thing to say. You need elite talent to win. More than 2 elite players.

At the end of the day that means what? They are not a fast skating team. To me at least

They very well could be. My enjoyment of watching them isn’t there after the same management/scouting/development group for a decade. Life has other joys.

I’ve caught glimpses this year but no full games. Can’t bring myself to commit to another half ass retool, and more drooling over the alumni.

Going off of what I’ve seen in years past they are slow as shit, and boring.

Feel free to find numbers to prove me wrong if I am, don’t mind.

I just gave you the numbers.

If that’s what they are this year I’ll believe you. They have zero top end talent, maybe one coming in Matvei.

Zero path to get more talent unless praying for a magic trade or FA is one.

I’ve got a change to watch stars around the league that nearly every team employs. It’s a beautiful game outside of Philadelphia.

Flyers are my childhood team so I follow, but how do I put this… nose bleeds can be had for 50$. I can see exciting players come to town, not pray the Flyers dig ditches better than the opponent.

Do you expect them to be the Avalanche? They're a team that most predicted to be bottom 5 this season. They've made a ton of progress and are an above-average skating team in the league overall.

Are they really though.

Cates. Foerster. Deslauries. Seeler. Couturier. I can’t remember seeing Risto use his legs as they have tried to corral him. York never seemed to stand out to me anyway.

What top end talent do Carolina and Boston have? Pastrnak (#25), McAvoy (#14), Aho (#35), or Dallas Heiskanen (#3). Florida has Barkov (#2), traded/signed everyone else on the roster. Same with Vegas.

Meanwhile, NJ is 5 points behind the Flyers, Buffalo 8 points.

It's less about drafting high year after year than good scouting, development and trading.
Either Briere is smarter than average, and the Flyers are in good shape, or he's not, and tanking would end up with a mediocre team that makes the playoffs and doesn't get past the 2nd round.

Imagine after all those high picks, if Edmonton doesn't luck into McDavid, they'd be worse than the Flyers are right now.

I'm sorry, but I need good clarification where are we getting this good scouting? Also what about the good development? Brink is down playing for a bunch of idiots who don't deserve coaching jobs anywhere, same with attard, grans, ginning, etc the only ones being developed are those fortunate enough to not be in the ahl under those idiots behind the bench, so I'm truly struggling to understand where those things are coming from

So now Fletcher decided that and not the “team?”

I thought it was a collaborative effort and Chuck was just following orders so he was blameless.

Tale as old as time. Song as old as rhyme.

Defend, defend, defend while they’re still employed and then as soon as they’re gone blame, blame, blame.

Then somehow attempt to gaslight us to believe us that that never happened is attempted as we all stare in bewilderment.

I do not think they have made a ton of progress. Their skating does not stand out.

Mann's not having a horrible D+1 season for a long-term project.

Pretty talentless team, only two draft picks, both 7th rd. One player like to go in the 2nd rd this summer. Traded their top scorer, overage forward.

Do or have the Flyers had this in the past/currently?

Drafting someone in the 7th round ruined someone's draft? Ok.
