If you're keeping score at home, that's one ELC player in a "rebuilding" team's opening lineup.
So they're not going to play but if they earn it through their play...they will play?
what he does currently is all that matters. Would you agree?Torts 2nd season in CBJ, he was only playing 3 veterans 30 or older:
Hartnell (34), Dubinsky (30), J Johnson (30)
Foligno (29), Atkinson, Gagner, Calvert (27), Savard (26), Bob (28)
This idea that he prefers veterans flies in the face of actual experience.

Briere's hands are tied with Couts, Atkinson and Risto.Do you understand the detachment from reality it takes to fire this take off at this exact moment in time?
Maybe wait a week or two if things improve. Or hell, give me an hour and frame it with a positive slant for the future. Not in the middle of that lineup announcement.
Nicky DBriere's hands are tied with Couts, Atkinson and Risto.
But how many of Deslauriers, Hathaway, Laughton, Staal, Seeler, and Walker do you expect to see in a Flyers uniform next season?
I can see the Flyers with only 3-4 players over 30 next season.
Ah yes, we've already moved into the "well we played veterans over young players this season, but next season will be different!" part of the discourse.Briere's hands are tied with Couts, Atkinson and Risto.

Sounds an awful lot like what we heard last season....strangeAh yes, we've already moved into the "well we played veterans over young players this season, but next season will be different!" part of the discourse.

Well, they'll need a job once they retire, so if we humiliate them during their playing career, how could they possibly take a job with the Flyers once they retire? The one thing you definitely don’t want to do is humiliate veteran players whose futures are not here after we just had discourse about Allison being waived because the players know who deserves to be there.

We know that happened though. On Chris maher interview with Jake voracek, happening now btw, he admitted to reading our forums lmao
Risto on the IR.
There's a simple reason for the "bag skate" in camp.
Instead of having to monitor and micromanage players over the summer, every player knows the "gauntlet" awaits - fear and competitive pride (I'm not going to be the one who pukes on the ice) encourages them to come to camp in game shape.
Andy Reid did something similar when he took over the Eagles to weed out the players who were less than dedicated.
Consider that we didn't expect to see Hathaway, Staal, or Walker in a Flyers uniform this season, the premise of your argument is a bit unstable.Briere's hands are tied with Couts, Atkinson and Risto.
