The coaching staff propelling this team to being dead last in chance generation on the PP — with a head coach who openly admits to not being able to coach offense and delegating duties — is really unearthing the secrets of basic offense.
Let's see what happens this season, last season PP wasn't a priority, player evaluation was the main focus. I mean were they competing for a PO spot? So STs were lower priority.

I want to see Foerster on the PP, York, hopefully Brink at some point. Sanheim or Zamula at LHD on PP2.
Frost should get another shot, but he was terrible last year, I think he's just better on the move.
This is where the lack of playmakers gets exposed, but add Michkov and boom, you got up ten spots.

Even with a playmaker QB, talent matters:
Ghost xGF/60:
6.38, 7.45, 6.08, 6.64 then goes to Carolina, 9.59

TDA 6.46, York 5.11, Sanheim 3.02
2021-22: Provorov 5.83, Yandle 7.41
2021-22: Ghost 7.45, Provorov 6.16

Last season the PP wasn't a priority, except they brought in a new coach specifically to turn the PP around...needless to say, that didn't work out too well

This makes zero sense as many games are won with special teams play. Rather silly to say it wasn't a priority. They just sucked at it. Wasnt Tony D acquired for said PP? Yet not a priority. Yes they had playoffs in mind when the season started.

Yet they did nothing to address it this year from a coaching POV.

Stop with the Brink stuff. There is no path for him at the current moment. IMO he will be an early cut at camp.

Tony D was supposed to be PP QB1 and they brought in Rocky to help with the PP. Neither of whom did a damn thing to help

TDA was no worse than Ghost, the problem on the PP was the overall talent, or lack of same.
Giroux was their best PP forward, Couts, Atkinson, all gone.

Hayes, Tippett and TK were their best PP forwards last year.
Cates actually outplayed Frost and Farabee.
JVR fell off the cliff, used to be a strong point.

Hopefully, Farabee can take a step up with added strength, Foerster, TK, Atkinson and York on PP1.
Sanheim, Risto, Frost, Cates and Couts on PP2.

Still not enough talent to break into the top 20, unless some young players take a big step up.
But should be an improvement

The PP is a basic part of the f***ing game, how are you supposed to evaluate players if it's an afterthought?

After all this heavy praise of the genius coaches, you mean to tell us they can only focus on a single aspect per season?

what does his added strength have to do with the PP. I also put Risto on PP 1

Wait so you want to evaluate players but evaluating players on ST isn't a priority. That's an offense worthy of being fired for!

Still thinking about the imaginary PP1 where three right hand shot wingers all line up behind Farabee who is sure to dominate the netfront with his newfound muscle mass.

And why would anyone expect these coaches to use Sanheim on the PP ahead of Laughton after last year? Laughton had the 5th most PPP and was eighth in PP TOI.

Oh, and Tippett wasn't even mentioned. He only led the team in PPG.

I fully expect the Flyers will have another season of a league bottom PP. The coaches don’t understand how to scheme offense, they go out of their way to use the worst personnel combos, they value shot go boom over playmaking, and they’re pathologically stubborn about all of it.

That’s not me saying they should be top 10, but Jorts and Rocky will do their damndest to make it sub-functional. I’m not sure they got one decision right last year.

Farabee is most effective close to the net, he has great hands, instincts and is an accurate shooter in tight quarters.
Problem is he's got a lanky frame he's been working to fill out, but last season, he couldn't work out after his injury and lost a lot of strength.
It's not a matter of beating up people, it's the ability to anchor and handle contact and win board and puck battles.

I'm sure it's been posted before, but I've never been less excited for a new Flyers season to begin.

After 35+ years of rabid fandom, they've completely broken me. I even replaced the Flyers front license plate on my car with an Orioles plate. I'm not a wagon-jumper, been a fan of them since '83 when they beat the Phils. Being a Flyers fan I'm expecting the worst for the Orioles whenever the playoffs come around. I've been conditioned for failure!

When/if Michkov comes over I'll start watching with interest again. I have better things to do than to follow a franchise that can't see the forest for the trees.

Note...as a drummer, I love the intro for this song. It's simple, yet so powerful.

I too am pretty checked out on the Flyers at this point. I started watching the Mariners last year and that is way more fun.

I'll just watch MLB until Michkov comes over/management and the senior advisers are turfed.

Unfortunately we should have already been through this stage under Hextall.

Next year is looking like the year that everything could change if Briere is actually on board.

Michov could come across, and Gauthier will sign. Immediately giving us two prospects worth watching.

We are looking for a top 10 draft this year, and Briere needs to find a taker for Laughton to add to the 2 first rounders we already have. There is no one that shouldn't be on the block for this season with the goal of acquiring as many picks as possible over the next two years.

This is a huge season for Tippet, Frost, York and Ersson. All of which could be starter/ top line material. There are signs for optimisim. You just have to look pretty damn hard.
