Beef, the status quo is being moved. In the last four months, the organization has cut Scott and Fletcher while bringing in Hilferty, Briere and Jones. Also, at LV, Mike O'Conell, John Riley and Kjell Samuelsson were let go. Riley Armstrong was made Director of Player Development, Nick Schultz became his assistant and Alun McCauley was elevated to Assistant GM. That seems to be a lot of change and there may be more moves that have been made. Whether these guys work out in their new positions remains to be seen but chances have been/are being made. It sure looks as if the bell has rung on a need to do things differently with player development which is obvious and essential. There probably will be changes made in the scouting department as well that haven't been announced as of yet.

"Bringing in" Briere and Jones???? They already worked here!!!

Nothing is different. This is the same Flyers it's always been. I can't believe you're falling for this. It's almost all exclusively internal promoting and cronyism as always.

I hate the good ol' boys club as much as you, but given that they draft Michkov, and they're brand new, I'm willing to give them a chance, and you should be willing to do that too.

They aren't brand new.

Drafting Michkov is a single step. There are many more steps that need to be gotten right, and since it's all the same people who have done nothing but get those steps wrong, why should I give them the benefit of the doubt? Nothing is new here.

Fletcher wouldn't have drafted Michkov, I find that Briere and Jones are more like us fans than the typical ol' boys club. Let's wait and see. Briere seems quite keen to the new style of the game, as his game was also tailored towards it. I'm willing to wait and see what he does. Remember when Jonesy and Jackson got caught with a hot mic, they were echo'ing everything all of us were writing during that game thread. I just wanna wait and see, I somehow have some belief in Briere and feel Jones might be more new age vice stone age.

They just signed Staal and let Flahr burn picks. It's the same.

oh Torts gunna love this..

RIP kid...

First thing Torts will do is goad him into getting angry and then get upset that he isn't falling for it. Because you know, he's a winning coach... f*** this shit man... he's allowed to go do his thing and doesn't have to make his whole life revolve around a team that has a coach that will more than likely treat him like shit.

Speaking of our spiritual leader John.

Is there any doubt in anyone’s mind that Lappy isn’t the next NHL HC once Torts moves into an advisor role?

That’s as sure as shit boys.

I like how every media story seems to gloss over the "NCAA rules would have also required him to pay his own way," angle.
While true, every other college kid was there and I'm going to guess most, if not all, are working with less pocket change than Cutter. It's clear this wasn't a money issue.

I don't think there's any risk of him not signing, but between the team wanting him to turn pro this season and him electing to go back to BC and now dev camp drama, it is a bit strange.

All of them? Or just the new draftees who can have the team pay? He was there last year.

Again this is likely not a big deal in the long term, but it's not a great look. f*** he didn't even have to skate. Just show up. The money excuse is weak. These are hockey players afterall.

Much ado about nothing.
They wanted him to return to BC to play center with much better talent (and probably help the tank as well).
He's obviously looking forward to the NHL, but knows if he can stay at center, that's better for him in the long-run.
Yep, the team that wanted to sign him ACTUALLY wanted him to go back to college.

I think it was Charlie who said the whole “money” excuse was a save face attempt since it’s not exactly kosher in the hockey world to say you want time off for rest.
