Sir, I got Fletcher fired so maybe I can get him fired too.

But I did cheer for Briere and look where we are now so maybe I did ruin it for everyone.

The lesson is obvious: Boo everyone. All the time. Get them all fired. When there is nobody left to represent the organization, finally we will have the soothing peace of oblivion.

Sounds to me like many weeks ago the Flyers made their pitch to the league re: the JOB compensation pick year, and the league simply hasn't made its decision.

Well, they don't need to know about JOB until the end of the playoffs. Not that I think it would really change the offseason strategy,

Torts played Braun enough to get those bonuses, Briere must have been aware, so it does seem a classy move not to screw a veteran - given they'll clear plenty of cap room this offseason and aren't planning to sign big money FAs.

We always hear how AGM Barry Hanrahan, the Flyers' "cap specialist," is such a salary cap genius, yet it seems like the Flyers have had their fair share of cap mistakes during Hanrahan's tenure, dating back to Holmgren.

The Pronger over-35 contract mistake, and needing to use amateur tryouts / not being able to ice a full lineup a couple of nights because of the cap (like Toronto this year) , both under Holmgren with Hanrahan as the cap guy, spring to mind.

Maybe the GMs are doing what they want against Hanrahan's wishes, and/or maybe he warns them and they ignore it. I don't know. But it makes me wonder.
Saying the Flyers should know that Pronger would suffer a freak accident injury is a joke. You can't truthfully think that's a valid argument point.

The cap blunders yes Clarke, Holmgren, Hextall and Fletcher all made them with Hanrahan's help.

I can't hold the Pronger deal against Holmgren, he was an exceptional player who was still playing at a high level - and that's why you accumulate assets - if you can't draft high you can always trade for an elite player if you stockpile assets.

What I hold against Holmgren is the delusion that once Pronger got injured, the Flyers had any chance to go deep into the playoffs. The Carter/Richards trades were his chance to take a step back and reload for a new run - but he wasted two seasons and depreciated assets like Kimmo.
